Although the flowers of the opium poppy are beautiful, it is the main drug plant for the production of opium. Some people like Gu Laohan have such a cognitive misunderstanding, thinking that it is not illegal to only treat opium poppy as an ornamental plant and not to plant it in small quantities for the purpose of making drugs. Article 351 of the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China stipulates that all illegal cultivation of opium poppy, marijuana and other narcotic plants shall be forcibly eradicated; Whoever cultivates 500 or more opium poppy but less than 3,000 or other narcotic plants in relatively large quantities, and who is replanted after being dealt with by the public security organs, or who resists eradication, is to be sentenced to up to five years imprisonment, short-term detention or controlled release, and shall also be fined; Whoever illegally cultivates 3,000 or more opium poppies or other narcotic plants in large quantities shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than five years and shall also be fined or have his property confiscated. If you encounter illegal acts of planting and selling opium poppy and other narcotic plants, please report it in time, so that the "flower of sin" has nowhere to bloom.
