Recently, a Chinese-language exchange event was held at the Whale Art Museum in Singapore.

The scene was filled with hardcore film lovers from all over the world, and everyone was able to enjoy not only a number of high-quality films at one time, but also a rare master lecture, which is a high-quality local arts and cultural event in Singapore.

Professor Xu Feng from the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing was invited to appreciate two classic French films and share his unique insights into the tradition and contemporaneity of French cinema.

(It's also a very happy experience to be able to turn your passion into a career!) )

From a professor in the TV department to a film producer, and then to a film festival curator, he himself said that in addition to making movies, he basically does not work or travel on weekdays.

He was personally pleased to be invited to Singapore this time, and talked to them a lot about what he saw Singapore look like.

This is my first time in Singapore, and I am here to work.

Because I received an invitation from Senior Art Production House, I came to do a close exchange with the public about French cinema.

It was an unexpected invitation that made me very happy, because the city of Singapore is a legend in my personal memory. It is a city that quickly developed into a kind of Asian wonder in the 60s, and in a short time from its founding, it has developed into a pearl of the whole of Southeast Asia, and even a pearl of Asia.

For a long time, I seemed to have a great curiosity about Singapore. However, because of my habit of not working or traveling, I have never been here.

I am a professor of film studies at the Central Academy of Drama, and in addition to this teaching and research work, I am also engaged in the curatorial work of the film festival and the production work. This time, I came to Singapore as a filmmaker (film researcher).

One thing that I expected after I came here was that Singapore is indeed a pearl of Asia, with a very diverse culture and diverse people.

But there was one thing that was beyond my imagination.

In fact, I was surprised that in this small place, through the efforts of many artists, I have gained an opportunity for the development of culture and art.

Because I think that as a country that has developed in such a short period of time, it is very, very rare to have such a good momentum of artistic development in the current sense.

I also learned about the different developments in Singapore in terms of both art and commercial films through my friends, such as Ms Shek Shu Yuen. I think that's actually very gratifying. It is precisely the development of these two sides of the spectrum.

It would be a great pity to think that such a medium and art form has not taken root in any place where cinema is detached from the public.

On the other hand, if there is no one in this place to explore this kind of art, then the deep needs of this culture will lose its momentum for development in the long run. Moreover, it will also lack a deep cultural identity on the platform of the whole world.

So it's great to see that Singapore's new generation of filmmakers can take their own place at international film festivals and have their own voice.

In fact, art requires dialogue, exchange, and solidarity.

I think this will develop slowly over a long period of time, and it will not be so easy, but the prospects are very impressive.
