New binocular single-line camera | Eliminate blind spots, suppress stray light, and lead new breakthroughs in 3D detection

author:New strategic mobile robots

At the recent machine vision conference, Hikrobot launched a new binocular single-line 3D laser profile sensor MV-DP2060-01D. With the dual image sensor design, the camera can effectively suppress stray light while eliminating the blind spot in the field of view in the scanning direction.

The camera adopts high-speed, high-resolution, large-pixel image chips, built-in high-precision 3D algorithms, wide-dynamic image processing algorithms and data fusion algorithms, combined with laser precise timing control, and can output high-precision 3D point cloud data in real time.

With the characteristics of compact structure, high integration and convenient operation, the camera is widely used for high-precision 3D information acquisition in dynamic scenarios such as 3C, electronic manufacturing, and automotive.

Challenges of traditional 3D laser profile sensors

Challenge 1

Because the camera adopts the principle of laser triangulation, when there is an occlusion on the reflection path of the laser line, the laser line cannot enter the imaging optical system, which leads to the loss of point cloud imaging data, which affects the subsequent point cloud data analysis. The dual-camera object stitching scheme has problems such as complex calibration process, difficult deployment, and high requirements for mechanism stability.

Challenge 2

In the 3D detection task of precision devices made of highly reflective materials, due to the complex diffuse reflection of light on the surface of the object, it is usually impossible to extract the point cloud data on the surface of the object 100% accurately, resulting in abnormal results of the hook end detection scheme

In response to the above challenges, Hikrobot has launched a binocular single-line 3D laser profile sensor.

Product Highlights:

Blind Spot Elimination:

The MV-DP2060-01D camera adopts a dual-sensor design, and the blind spots of the two are complementary through dual-sensor image fusion inside the camera, so as to eliminate the blind spots in the scanning direction.

Stray Light Suppression:

The common field of view of the two sensors can further improve the signal-to-noise ratio, and have a good suppression effect on stray light interference on metal surfaces.

The end result

Cost level: 1+1<2

Compared with the traditional dual-camera head-to-head splicing erection to eliminate blind spots, the binocular single-line 3D laser profile sensor can realize this function independently, and is not affected by the external splicing calibration error, which can further reduce the project cost and project implementation complexity, and improve the detection accuracy.

Effect level: 1+1>2

Through the symmetrically designed image acquisition module of the camera, the laser line on the surface of the measured object is photographed, and then the influence of stray light on the point cloud extraction is suppressed through image processing, which further improves the accuracy and authenticity of the point cloud data compared with the dual-camera object stitching scheme.
