On May 6, 2024, just after the May Day holiday, a group of elderly people over 70 years old rushed to Linshuiju to wash the dust for Song Yuning, an old comrade-in-arms of the 334th Regiment who had just returned to China. At the same time, congratulations to Pei Jinping on his return to the team. I jokingly call it "Double Home".
Song Yuning, born in 1953, enlisted in the 334th Regiment of the 112th Division of the 38th Army in 1968 and was promoted in 1971. He used to be the platoon commander, deputy instructor, officer, instructor, and deputy director of the Political Department of the 334th Regiment. In the mid-eighties of the last century, he was transferred to the General Political Department as an officer. In the nineties, in order to reunite with his wife, who had lived in Finland for a long time, he left the army where he had served for almost thirty years and went to Finland.
Before the epidemic, Xiao Song returned to China every year to visit his mother and father-in-law. During the epidemic, three elderly people died one after another, and they were unable to return to China to fulfill their filial piety. When I came back last year, I ran back and forth between Beijing and Baoding, and I was sick with the new crown, but I only talked on the phone and didn't see me. During the May Day period, Wu Wanping called and said that Xiao Song was back, and he made an appointment to get together in Linshui on the 6th.

I know Xiao Song, and it is still related to Wu Wanping. Xiao Song enlisted in the army from Baoding in 1968, and his father was the political commissar of the 113th Division. At the same time, the children of the commander and deputy commander of the 113th Division were sent to the 7th, 8th, and 9th companies of the 3rd Battalion of the 334th Regiment. The 9th Company of Xiao Song was inconspicuous in the Red Army, and it was a company born during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. However, in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the company was awarded the title of "both offensive and defensive" by the Volunteer Army Headquarters and the Political Department and the title of "Heroic Unit" awarded by the 38th Army of the Volunteer Army. Because in 1968 and 1969, the army successively served as a military propaganda team in the Beijing Seventh Machine Department, and the 3rd Battalion was in the 3rd Academy in the Yungang area, and I was directly in the department. In the second half of 1969, I joined the communications training team, and in the Baoding area, I successively participated in the work of collecting weapons, promoting the great alliance, and combining the three parts. When the troops returned to the barracks at the end of the year, most of the people I knew had just become squad leaders, and they were busy with their own work, and they rarely had the opportunity to visit the barracks.
At the beginning of 1970, the troops went to Daxing, Beijing to carry out combat readiness construction tasks, and the garrisons were very scattered. Until June, I was transferred from the two Wabanti of the communications company to the military affairs unit of the headquarters, and I lived in the duty room of the construction site all day. Every time I chatted with Wu Wanping of the 9th Company, I met Xiao Song, who was also in the 9th Company. Black and thin, he does not spare any effort to do his work. He told me that he had to carry a bag of 100 pounds of cement and have to carry it with a straight waist. Looks like a real person.
At the end of the year, when I returned to the barracks, I often saw familiar figures on the basketball court.
In 1971, before the troops went to Chifeng in Northeast China for training, the vacant cadres of each company were filled in time, including Xiao Song. At that time, Qing He had nowhere to eat, so he bought a popsicle and passed away. Lalian went to Chifeng, and walked for four days and three nights along the way, and the headquarters followed the 3rd battalion all the way, and did not see Xiao Song. Eating canned pork in raw juice was only made after the "13 September" incident when the troops rushed from Chifeng overnight to the Nankou and Guangou areas to carry out combat preparation tasks.
I really got acquainted with Xiao Song because I went to college. In August 1973, after participating in the 112th Division's "85 Cannon Night Firing at Moving Targets" held by our company, I rushed to the Wangdu Army Artillery Training and Teaching Team to study. Suddenly, I received a notice from the Military Cadres Department asking me to lead more than 20 comrades to study at Hebei University in Baoding. When I went to the group to go through the formalities, I unexpectedly met Xiao Song, who also went to study.
After the start of the school, 89 students from the 73rd class of the Department of Chinese were organized into a class. Among them, there are 15 trainees in the army, organized into a group. I have been friends with Xiao Song for three years.
I have to go out for internships every semester. In March 1974, he went to Zhuoxian County to approve Lin Pikong, visited the Three Stones Exhibition in Tianjin in the summer, and went to Baoding Daily for an internship at the end of the year. In 1975, he went to the 38th Army for military training, and then went to "Chengde Daily" for an internship. At the end of the year, he went to the Beijing Military Region for an internship at the "Brothers-in-Arms Newspaper". In July 1976, he went to work in Qinhuangdao Refrigeration Factory.

On July 6, Mr. Zhu passed away, and we, who were interning at the Qinhuangdao Refrigeration Plant, expressed our condolences in our own way. At noon on September 9, we received the news of the death of the great man, passed it on to each other, worried together, until the good news came after October 6th.

In the second half of the year, the PLA trainees interned in batches at the "Baoding Daily", and the trainees from other places went to various regions of Hebei Province. Quite a few I haven't been to. So I suggested that the cadets be divided into seven other groups to facilitate communication. In the first half of 1975, we interned at Chengde Daily. When I went to the paddock and other places to cover the news, I contracted dysentery and was admitted to Hospital 266. Xiao Song and others came to visit every day by bicycle. At that time, I was a company cadre, and Xiao Song was a platoon-level cadre, level 23, 52 yuan per month. 45 pounds of national food stamps. However, the supply of materials is scarce, and it is not easy to eat meat. At school, I eat bud rice noodles every day for breakfast, and two people have a pickle. Every Sunday, Xiao Song not only took me to the family courtyard of the 38th Army to take a bath, but also often asked me to go to his house for lunch to improve my food. Before graduating in July 1976, he went to work in Qinhuangdao Refrigeration Factory, and took a sea bath outside the factory and played football during his lunch study. Because Xiao Song is loyal and honest, he is recommended by everyone as the treasurer, responsible for the monthly expenses of shabu mutton in "Wanghu Spring" and winter and summer vacations in Beijing.

After graduating from university in September 1976, Li Shaojun, Song Yuning, and I returned to the Red Army. Li Shaojun still served as a staff officer in the training unit of the headquarters, I went to the 100 mortar company as an instructor, and Xiao Song went to the antiaircraft machine gun company as a deputy instructor. Xiao Dong was transferred to the political department of the division artillery regiment as an officer. In 1979, Li Shaojun served as the commander of the 1st Battalion, I served as the head of the direct political unit of the headquarters, and Xiao Song served as the officer of the cadre unit of the Political Department.
In the second half of 1979, the army began to evaluate cadres at all levels. Staff officers, officers, and assistants of regimental-level organs may be rated as deputy companies, main companies, and deputy battalions. At that time, I was the deputy secretary of the party committee of the regiment directly under the regiment, the head of the headquarters unit, and a member of the branch of the headquarters organ. The regimental party committee adopted my suggestion that the headquarters, political department, and logistics department not only put forward the rating opinions of their own units vertically, but also put forward the comprehensive opinions of the three organs horizontally. As a result of some maneuvering, two officers of the Political Office were promoted to the rank of Deputy Battalion. One was changed from an instructor to an officer, and when the army leaders inspected the work, he operated the 82 recoilless gun to shoot, and the first hit was well received. One is Xiao Song, who was changed from deputy instructor to officer and was rated as deputy battalion. It can be seen that Song Yuning's impression among cadres at all levels of the army.
In order to coordinate the relationship between comrades-in-arms, we set up a "bridge committee", which is nominally a bridge committee, but in fact it means "bridge". Gao Peipu and I are in charge. Before going to school, most of them were single, but now they are starting families. The marriage of the children of the non-38th Army is presided over by me. 38 The children of the army got married, and Gao Peipu presided over it. During the day, everyone worked hard in their respective units, playing soccer on the court at noon and playing basketball or bridge on the floodlit court at night. Whenever family members come to visit their relatives, the "bridge committee" should visit and show concern for the life of the troops. Whenever one of them is transferred, the "bridge committee" should organize a farewell, or participate in the farewell of the unit to which he belongs, which is called "a friend before death." Everyone loved each other very harmoniously and maintained it to this day.

At first, I mainly took into account the 3 battalion, I said that the comrades of the 1 battalion were more lively. At that time, I couldn't wait in line to eat at Xinqiao Hotel. Han Xiaoli's wife is Yang Xi, a famous national player of the national women's volleyball team, who helped book a seat with a big belly. People came from far and wide to gather and take precious photos. At the dinner table, he decided to go back to the Songlin Store barracks in the spring to have a look, and agreed to play a game of football with the troops. Discuss the establishment of a long-term liaison organization. I didn't expect it to become a major event in the army's party rectification movement that year. In order to avoid suspicion, there was no contact for a long time.
Once when I went to the 112th Division of Gaobidian to perform a mission, I saw Song Yuning at the guest house, and only then did I know that he had been transferred to the Liaison Department of the General Political Department. Get together a few times in the future.
After he went abroad in the mid-90s, every time he returned to China, he had to go back and forth to Beijing and Baoding to visit his mother and parents-in-law. At the beginning of this century, his comrades-in-arms learned that he had returned to China and took turns to pick him up, which made him deeply feel the closeness between his comrades-in-arms. Sometimes I also go to No. 6 Gongyuan, where we play basketball, to be lively with everyone.
At the end of 2019, I was admitted to 309 Hospital because of a leg injury, and he and his brother came to see me at night. I couldn't find it even after taking a photo. During the epidemic, his mother and parents-in-law died one after another, and he could not return to China. It wasn't until last year that I was allowed to return to China to cook, and I came and went in a hurry, and I didn't have time to meet.
On May 6, 2024, I heard that Song Yuning was picking up the wind, and my comrades-in-arms rushed to Linshuiju from all directions in Beijing.
