It is understood that not long ago, Thailand's CIB received a report from a 75-year-old Thai victim during the investigation of telecommunications fraud, saying that he was defrauded by a wire fraud gang and lost a total of 10.9 million baht, and the police arrested 4 suspects involved in the case according to the extended investigation.
The police investigation learned that Pongtipa also acted as an interpreter for the Chinese leader of the wire fraud gang, and was responsible for assigning work to the staff engaged in wire fraud, transferring funds from black accounts and laundering money through cryptocurrency, and the police arrested him at the Khlong Luek border checkpoint through the clues they had. At the time of his arrest, Pontipa was preparing to leave the country for Poipet, Cambodia, to work for the Chinese leaders.
According to further investigation, the wire fraud gang used various means to defraud the public, including making threatening phone calls, inducing the installation of fraudulent apps, and defrauding investments, and so far the police have received more than 1,000 related reports. After his arrest, Pontipa confessed to the charges against the police, and further investigations will be carried out.
