The "12th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo in Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region" ("MITE") came to a successful conclusion on Sunday (28 December), in line with the "1+4" moderately diversified development strategy and deepening the cross-sector integration of "tourism +".

This year's MITE reached 55 signed projects, attracted more than 37,000 visitors over the three-day fair, and the receipts involved in the "MAK MAK Lucky Draw" totaled more than MOP8.45 million, an increase of more than 50% compared to last year.

The 12th MITE was held from April 26 to 28 at The Venetian Macao's Cotai Expo Halls A, B and C, with an expanded exhibition area of 30,000 square metres, the largest in 12 years, in terms of exhibition area, booths and number of exhibitors.

A total of 668 exhibitors and entities from 54 countries and regions will set up 1,353 booths at this year's MITE, including 290 in the Mainland Pavilion, 399 in Macao, 35 in Hong Kong and Taiwan, 218 in the International Pavilion and 411 in other Pavilions, as well as 502 international invited buyers, Mainland Invited Buyers and buyers from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Travel industry players from all over the world gathered in Macao once again, demonstrating the professionalism and influence of MITE and actively promoting international tourism exchanges. 54 countries and regions, including travel agencies, tourism industry-related institutions and enterprises from Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Oceania, including Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Portugal, Spain, Australia, Laos, Norway, Denmark, Jordan, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, a total of 17 tourism official organizations participated in the exhibition. Among them, 39 were from countries or regions along the Belt and Road, 9 were Portuguese-speaking countries, 68 exhibitors were from 8 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (excluding Hong Kong and Macao), and tourism departments and enterprises from 19 mainland provinces and cities.

For the second consecutive year, MITE has set up the "1+4 Zone", with more than 50 enterprises from four key industries, namely healthcare, modern finance, high-tech, MICE and commerce, and culture and sports. As one of the highlights of this year's Expo, MGTO and the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin are co-organising for the first time the "Macao-Hengqin Outdoor Camping Industry Salon" and the "Macao-Hengqin Camping Industry Salon" and the "Macao-Hengqin Camping Festival 2024", which will be launched later, under the model of "one MICE and two places".
