On April 27, 2024, the 8th China Science Fiction Conference 2024 "Future Industry and New Quality Productivity Forum" was held in Shougang Park, Shijingshan District, Beijing.
Hosted by the China Future Research Association, the forum discussed in depth the development prospects of the future industry, focusing on how to promote industrial upgrading and economic growth through innovative technology, and further explored the unique role of science fiction in foreseeing the development of science and technology, stimulating the public's imagination and promoting the popularization of science. At a time when the world is facing constant change and challenges, transform complex scientific concepts into knowledge that the public can understand and participate in, so as to prepare for future innovation and change.
The opening ceremony of the forum will be held at 9 a.m. on April 27. Jin Canrong, Chairman of the China Future Studies Association and Professor of the School of International Relations of Chinese University, delivered an opening speech.
Liu Cixin, a famous science fiction writer and winner of the Hugo Award, delivered a speech.
Special guest Dr. Muamar Salameh, Director of the Centre for Future Studies and Dean of Academic Affairs of Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd University, delivered a speech.
At the same time, the signing ceremony of the memorandum of cooperation between the China Society for Future Studies and Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd University was held at the forum.
Also present at the meeting were Qin Linzheng, Chief Advisor of the China Society for Future Studies, and Dr. Qin Linzheng, Dean of Quality and Accreditation at Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd University. Dr. Ghadeer G. Kayal, Professor at Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd University Feroz Shaik, Zhang Yanqi, Executive Vice President of the China Society for Future Studies, and more than 200 guests from various fields such as science and technology, education, culture, and industry across the country attended the forum. During the one-day forum, a total of 12 experts and scholars gave invited reports on the theme of future industries and new quality productivity.
Jin Canrong, chairman of the China Society for Future Studies and professor of the School of International Relations of Chinese University, made a report entitled "Prospects for Future World Development Trends", expounding the great significance of the world entering a "great change unprecedented in a century" from the latest international situation, the trend of the world economy, the new challenges facing China, and regional hotspot risks.
Chen Hui, Secretary-General of the China Society for Future Studies, made a report on "Innovation Formula-"Future System", which mainly focuses on the innovative formula composed of future research framework, future academic system, future discipline construction, future science and technology, and future industry.
Zuo Xinian, Fellow of the International Society of Human Brain Atlas, Director of the China Future Research Association, and Director of the Development Population Neuroscience Research Center of the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning of Beijing Normal University, gave a report on "Brain Science and the Future", discussing the forward-looking scientific research exploration and innovative application development around the frontier fields of brain science and population neuroscience.
Zhang Xiaofeng, the initiator of "Internet + 100 Meeting", the person in charge of Beijing Tianwen Digital Intelligence Technology Center, the editor-in-chief of "Intelligent Economy", and the promoter of artificial intelligence +, IP, and great synergy, made a report on ""Big Model + Great Collaboration" to Open a New Era of Intelligent Civilization", which mainly focused on the development of artificial intelligence technology, the latest research results, and the prospects for its application.
Liu Yidong, vice chairman of the Chinese Society for Future Studies, researcher and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of History of Natural Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and expert with special allowance from the State Council, made a report on "Is it the Fourth Industrial Revolution or AI Fighting Mankind?—— and the Mission of Science Fiction from the Sudden Increase in Destroying Knowledge", respectively, on the digital backlash, machine substitution, AI arms race and other artificial intelligence risks and major risks of science and technology, as well as the new scientific and technological revolution, new industrial revolution and new distribution revolution that will be triggered, provided in-depth interpretation and analysis.
Hu Peng, Executive Director of United Imaging Group's Academia Sinica, delivered a report on "Medical Technology Transformation under the Wave of Informatization", expounding that the fourth industrial revolution will bring subversive changes to medical technology, reviewing the progress of intelligent and automated medical equipment, and imagining the future medical paradigm based on digital twin and other technologies.
Li Bin, director and vice president of BGI Group, editor-in-chief of Future Industry and Bioeconomy, and former editor-in-chief of Xinhua News Agency Beijing Branch, made a report on "Enlightenment Through Time and Space - Embracing the "Genetic Economy Era" together", introducing the essence of the future industry, the major changes brought by the future industry to the global economy, and the development trend of the future industry.
Wang Ge, vice chairman of the China Future Research Association and dean of the School of Future Industry of Beijing University of Technology, made a report on "The Core Elements of Future Industry and New Quality Productivity", focusing on what is the new quality productivity, what are the core elements of development, and what are the values of general enterprises.
Zhang Shiguang, the founder of Zhiliu AI, made a report on "Foreseeing the Future - Filling the World with AI", focusing on the development and application of AI, the predictability of AI, and the integration of AI industry and future industry.
Yao Haijun, the editor-in-charge of "Three-Body Problem" and the chief engineer of promotion planning at home and abroad, made a <三体>report on "The Road to Globalization", which focused on the future industrial development plan, the layout of frontier fields such as quantum technology and life sciences, as well as how to create a future industry pilot area, how to concentrate resources, promote scientific and technological innovation and industrial integration, and accelerate the maturity and application of new industries.
Wang Baochen, founder and CEO of Makerpost, gave a report on "Unleashing Human Imagination, AI Reconstructs Content Production and Dissemination", sharing the basis for continuous integration in the field of new technologies and new business formats, as well as the emergence of innovative business models.
Wu Yan, professor of Southern University of Science and Technology and director of the Research Center for Science and Human Imagination, made a report on "From Science Fiction Industry to Science Fiction Power Economy", which mainly includes the impact and role of scientific and technological innovation on social development, as well as the social responsibility and practice of enterprises in innovation and development.
During the forum, two roundtable dialogues were held to exchange views with the audience, with the participation of Qin Linzheng, a world-renowned scholar of futurology, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, an advisor to UNESCO, and the chief advisor of the China Society for Future Studies. Finally, the person in charge of Shougang Science Fiction Industrial Park introduced the science fiction industry gathering model of Shougang Science Fiction Industrial Park.
The China Science Fiction Convention is co-sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Beijing Municipal People's Government, focusing on promoting the development of the science fiction industry and providing a platform for mutual exchange and integrated development of the entire science fiction industry chain. The "Future Industry and New Quality Productivity Forum" focuses on the methods and innovations of interdisciplinary and cross-border cooperation under the framework of the future system, conducts in-depth discussions on the uncertainties and challenges faced by future research, and explores coping strategies and methods to better cope with future challenges and provide more reliable support for future decision-making.
