The 10 major marshals of the Chinese People's Liberation Army have either received railway soldiers or given instructions on the construction of railway soldiers, representing the concern of the party, the state, and the people's army for railway soldiers.

The ten marshals Zhu De and Ye Jianying gave the most specific and direct instructions on the construction of the railway troops, and they wrote inscriptions for the railway soldiers, met with the officers and soldiers of the railway troops, inspected the construction site, and came to the meeting to make reports. As everyone knows, Zhu De and Ye Jianying are also the highest-ranking party and state leaders among the ten marshals, and both have served as leaders of the Central Military Commission and have been elected chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. After their deaths, the Party Central Committee gave them the highest evaluation: "Great proletarian revolutionary, politician, military strategist, one of the main founders of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, founding father of the People's Republic of China." ”

Referring to the brief history of the railway soldiers and other library materials, I compiled and wrote an article to trace Marshal Ye Jianying's cordial care and ardent expectations for the railway soldiers.

Ye Jianying, Lin Biao, and Chen Yi were the first three marshals to "praise" the railway soldiers.

In July 1949, the Fourth Field Army marched to Hunan, Jiangxi and Guangzhou. The Railway Corps was ordered to rush to repair the railway in the theater. When the Kuomintang fled, it seriously damaged the Guangdong-Han line, threatening that "it could not be repaired within three years". The Railway Corps and railway workers rushed to open the entire line three days ahead of schedule in only half a year. On December 28, Ye Jianying, then chairman of Guangdong Province, personally presided over the opening ceremony and cut the ribbon to praise the railway soldiers.

On June 14, 1958, the year of the Great Leap Forward, the Second Congress of Young Activists for Socialist Construction was held to sum up experience, commend activists, and mobilize and organize young people to strive for the construction of railways as quickly and efficiently as possible. Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Chen Yun, Lin Biao, Deng Xiaoping, Peng Dehuai, Ye Jianying and other party and state leaders met with all the delegates and took a group photo.

On December 12, 1963, the Third Congress of the Railway Corps of the Communist Party of China was held to summarize the work, assign tasks, and elect committee members. Central Military Commission leaders Ye Jianying, He Long, Liu Bocheng, Nie Rongzhen, Luo Ruiqing, and others met with the delegates attending the meeting.

On May 31, 1965, the Railway Corps Headquarters issued a circular to commend the award-winning projects participating in the exhibition of training equipment of the whole army, among which the deeds of the 6th Company of the 17th Regiment of the Fourth Division were highly praised by Ye Jianying, the leader of the Central Military Commission. Marshal Ye Jianying advocated "training troops diligently and thriftily" and organized and led an exhibition of military training equipment for the whole army.

On October 22, 1972, Ye Jianying, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, instructed that the Beijing Underground Railway should be connected to the surface railway as soon as possible. In order to implement the instructions of Vice Chairman Ye, the railway soldiers dispatched the 56th Regiment and the 60th Regiment of the 12th Division to immediately carry out construction and completed the connection task on schedule.

On November 6, 1972, the railway soldiers held an engineering meeting, at which Ye Jianying, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, Li Xiannian, vice premier of the State Council, and Li Desheng, director of the General Political Department, listened to the report and gave instructions to the meeting. Ye Jianying pointed out that the distribution of railways on the mainland is uneven, the railways in the eastern half have begun to take shape, and the vertical and horizontal trunk lines have formed a skeleton; there are few railways in the northwest and southwest, and transportation is inconvenient; not only from the economic point of view, but also from the perspective of national defense construction, the construction of the northwest and southwest railways is also very important. He called on the railway troops to advance to the "three norths" region and build railway trunk lines leading to remote areas, so as to make new contributions to the development of border resources, the promotion of national unity, and the consolidation of national defense. After that, the focus of the railway soldiers in the construction of the railway shifted to the direction of the "three norths".

On January 6, 1973, in order to further strengthen the leadership of the subway project and ensure the smooth progress of the construction of the subway ring line, Premier Zhou Enlai and Vice Chairman Ye Jianying decided to add Song Yangchu, deputy director of the National Construction Commission, Liu Qianyi, deputy director of the Political Department of the Railway Corps, and other leaders of ministries and commissions and the army as members of the subway leading group.

On November 9, 1973, Vice Chairman Ye Jianying commented in the report on the construction task of the railway soldiers: "Can the Qinghai-Tibet and Southern Xinjiang railways increase their strength and complete them ahead of schedule." On December 15, Premier Zhou Enlai approved the construction plan of the South Xinjiang Railway, and designated the whole line of the project to be unified by the railway soldiers and implement unified organization and command. Mao Zedong, Ye Jianying, Li Xiannian, Deng Xiaoping and other central leaders all agreed to this plan.

On July 5, 1978, the railway soldiers solemnly commemorated the 30th anniversary of the founding of the army, and Hua Guofeng, chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Ye Jianying, vice chairman of the CPC Central Committee, wrote inscriptions for the railway soldiers. Hua Guofeng's inscription reads: "Accelerate the revolutionary modernization of the railway troops and strive to build a strong socialist country." Ye Jianying's inscription is: "Dig roads in the mountains, build bridges in the water, there is no danger in front of the railway soldiers; We should uphold this revolutionary spirit and make greater contributions to building a great modern socialist country. Ye Jianying's inscription, highly and concisely summarized the nature, task and fighting spirit of the railway soldiers, which has been passed down for a long time, is a great encouragement and spur to the commanders and fighters of the railway soldiers, and also inspires generations of railway soldiers and China Railway Construction employees to carry forward the spirit of "digging roads in the mountains and building bridges in the water", and constantly move from victory to greater victory.

On January 29, 1978, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Railway Corps held an enlarged meeting to study the "Plan of the Central Military Commission on the Adjustment of the Military Establishment System" and determined that the railway soldiers should not be included in the army quota. There was unanimous support. During the meeting, Hua Guofeng, Ye Jianying, Li Xiannian, Wang Dongxing, Wu Lanfu and other party and state leaders met with all the participants.

On July 17, 1978, the railway soldiers held a logistics work conference in Beijing, and Hua Guofeng, Ye Jianying, Deng Xiaoping, Li Xiannian, Wang Dongxing and other party and state leaders met with the delegates attending the meeting.

Marshal Ye Jianying died in 1986, he had hoped that his hometown of Meizhou, Guangdong would be connected to the railway, which was built by the railway soldiers, and the railway soldiers also sent people to survey, but the construction did not start for some reason. In 1991, the construction of the Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou Railway, as well as the subsequent expressway, all reached the hometown of Marshal Ye Jianying, Meizhou, and the China Railway Construction Corporation participated in the construction of railways and highways after the transformation of the railway soldiers, in order to comfort Ye Shuai's soul in the sky.

With a total length of 61.273 kilometers, Guangdong Province has built a new provincial passage - Mei (Zhou) Da (Pu) Expressway, passing through Yanyang Town, Meixian County, the hometown of Marshal Ye Jianying, Xiyang Town, Bingcun Town and other lofty mountains. The No. 6 Company of China Railway 20th Bureau Group, which is responsible for the construction of the 8th bid section of the key control project of the Meida Expressway, regards the construction without forgetting environmental protection as the top priority of civilized construction, and adheres to the principle that the environmental protection plan is not optimized and the protection measures are not in place, so as to avoid the harm to the natural environment caused by the construction to the greatest extent, and is highly praised by the owner and the local government.
