On November 1, 1935, Wang Jingwei was assassinated at the Sixth Plenary Session of the Fourth Central Committee of the Kuomintang in Nanjing. Chen Bijun held Wang Jingwei, who was covered in blood, in his arms, and Wang Jingwei said: "I'm done, I'm done!" Chen Bijun gritted his teeth and said: "Is it good for you to be stronger, is it better for you to be tough! Those who do revolution will not have this day sooner or later, and sooner or later there will be this result!" She shouted and questioned Chiang Kai-shek: "Mr. Chiang, you don't want Mr. Wang to do it, Mr. Wang doesn't do it, why do you want to do this!" Chiang Kai-shek was afraid of Chen Bijun's splashing, and it was difficult to argue at this time, so he said: "Don't worry, Commissar Chen, you will figure it out, you will figure it out." ”
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Wang Jingwei and Chiang Kai-shek were in conflict, he went to Vietnam, claiming that he wanted to go to France, but his secretary was assassinated by Dai Li's spies, so he decided to go to Tokyo to negotiate surrender with Japan. The area under the rule of Nanjing was occupied by the Japanese, and there was not an inch of land that Mr. Wang had cut off, but on the contrary, he had to take back the rights from the enemy, and what country could he sell? The court finally sentenced Chen Bijun to life imprisonment, Chen Bijun said: I have the courage to die, but I have no patience to go to prison, so I hope the court will change the death sentence.
Song Qingling and He Xiangning interceded for Chen Bijun
After the liberation of Shanghai in 1949, Chen Bijun was escorted from Suzhou to Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai. "The Complete Biography of Wang Jingwei" describes: Song Qingling and He Xiangning found Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai at the CPPCC meeting and interceded for Chen Bijun. Song and He had a deep personal relationship with Chen Bijun, and when Wang and Chen got married in 1912, He Xiangning also served as Chen Bijun's bridesmaid.
He Xiangning said to Mao Zedong: "Wang Jingwei treasoned and defected to the enemy, and Chen Bijun also ran with him and became a traitor." But she is a participant, not a decision-maker. Chen Bijun has been in prison for several years, and I heard that he is not in good health, so he can be pardoned. Mao Zedong thought for a moment and replied: "Chen Bijun is a very capable and powerful woman, but it is a pity that she took the wrong path. Since Mr. Song and Mr. He interceded for her, I think I would ask her to write a confession, and the people's government will issue a special amnesty order to release her. ”
Zhou Enlai said on the side: "Just ask Mr. Song and Mr. He to write a letter to Chen Bijun, and we will send someone to Shanghai Prison to see Chen Bijun's attitude." That night, Song Qingling and He Xiangning wrote a letter:
Mr. Chen Bijun:
We have been working with Mr. Sun for many years, and we know each other very well. You are a stubborn and capable woman, and we have a lot of respect for you. I have always been sympathetic to your painful situation after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. In the past, because we were at odds with the regime led by Mr. Chiang, it was impossible for us to speak for you. Now, times are different. This morning, we met with two leaders of the Communist Party. They made it clear that as long as Mr. Chen sent a brief statement of remorse, you would be free immediately. We know your character, and it must be difficult to accept. I hope you accept our advice, and the good sisters look forward to your parting feelings in Shanghai Qingling Residence and Beijing Xiangning Residence as soon as possible.

My young son came to see me, gave me several books, and the female prison also gave me a newspaper at 9 o'clock every morning, and then asked to order a copy of the Liberation Daily, from which I diligently learned theories and the measures of the people's government. I gradually became convinced of the correct theories and intentions of the Communist Party and the people's government under the leadership of Chairman Mao. In particular, I borrowed the article "On the People's Democratic Dictatorship," and I read it eight times, but it was not enough, and I copied it down if I wanted to return it to others. I watched it every day, watched it over and over again, and I understood it completely...... I then understood that the victory of the Communist Party and the demise of the Kuomintang were an ironclad law of history.
In 1959, Chen Bijun was seriously ill and knew that he would die soon, so he wrote a letter to his children: I was sent to the hospital by the people's government under revolutionary humanitarian treatment on the 2nd of this month. On June 17, 1959, Chen Bijun died in Shanghai Tilanqiao Prison Hospital at the age of 67. Chen Bijun's children all went abroad before liberation, and she had no immediate family in Shanghai, and her body was collected and cremated by her daughter-in-law's brother in Shanghai, and her ashes were sent to Guangzhou.
