The Seventh Medical Center of the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army: Battlefield service training for all-field technological innovation

The Seventh Medical Center of the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army has established a scientific research orientation

Technological innovation in all fields is connected with battlefield service combat training

Editor's note

President Xi stressed that it is necessary to adhere to the focus on actual combat, do a good job in the transformation and application of scientific and technological innovation achievements, and make scientific and technological innovation better serve the construction of combat effectiveness. As an important part of our army's health and logistics support, the scientific research and innovation capability of military hospitals has a direct bearing on the battlefield treatment capability and affects the combat effectiveness of the troops. The Seventh Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital aims at the needs of actual combat and makes concerted efforts to promote the effective docking of scientific research and innovation with combat effectiveness.

At the beginning of this year, the new annual scientific research project plan of the Seventh Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital was distributed to all departments. What is striking is that nearly half of the topics are closely related to the needs of the battlefield and involve more than 20 departments. The leaders of the center told reporters that this is a gratifying change brought about by their establishment of scientific research as the orientation of warfare, promoting technological innovation in all fields, and accelerating the breakthrough and transformation of key diagnosis and treatment technologies for battlefield treatment.

In the schedule, there are not only cutting-edge medical technology innovations such as 5G telemedicine, minimally invasive surgery, stem cell and tissue engineering, and gene diagnosis and treatment, but also basic research such as the research and development of portable surgical instruments and the optimization of a hemostatic material. Although the size and level of the topics are different, the scientific research directions are all connected to the battlefield and serve the combat training, and the research problems are all needed by the battlefield.

"Military hospitals are surnamed the army, and the direction of scientific research cannot deviate from the battlefield. The leaders of the center told reporters that in recent years, they have focused on the main responsibility and main business of preparing for war, guiding scientific research work to focus on the battlefield, taking various drills and training and patrol tasks as an opportunity to select personnel from various departments to go deep into the front line of training and preparing for war, focusing on finding the blocking points and difficulties that restrict the improvement of the ability to support the health service, and gathering wisdom to tackle key problems and explore ways to solve problems.

"Being on the front line of military training, we can better see what kind of security support is needed on the battlefield. Not long ago, the leaders of the center led a team to the plateau for medical inspections, which not only brought high-quality medical services to the front-line officers and soldiers, but also brought back a number of scientific research topics that were needed on the battlefield and eagerly awaited by the officers and men.

Jin Peng, director of the gastroenterology department of the center, found that digestive endoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology is the basic treatment method for digestive system diseases, but it is difficult to carry out under field conditions due to various reasons. To this end, the medical team of the department has worked hard to develop a set of anti-infection sheath sleeve digestive endoscope system, which is more portable, fast and safe to treat, and can meet various wartime application scenarios, and won the second prize of military scientific and technological progress.

In order to fully unleash the vitality of innovation, the center has also established and improved an incentive mechanism, stipulating that all scientific research topics related to battlefield rescue will be given priority to financial support, expert guidance, the purchase of experimental equipment, and the selection and submission of results to participate in the evaluation, so as to give birth to a number of scientific research achievements that serve the front line of military training and ensure the urgent needs of the battlefield. Not long ago, a comprehensive field medical technology detection system developed by them was launched, which provided strong support for medical workers to carry out physiological index testing and pathogen detection under field conditions.

"Scientific research is a battle, there is no distinction between medicine and surgery, and there are no 'outsiders'. Liu Jie, director of the laboratory department of the center, said that scientific research is the common mission of military medical workers. In the process of researching a certain topic, Liu Jie found that the results of this project have broad application prospects in the rapid detection and classification of a large number of wounded. However, in the specific medical division of labor, this field is not Liu Jie's "position". Liu Jie said: "As long as the battlefield can be used, my research will be valuable." ”

Everyone has the matter of "fighting a war" in their hearts, and they will intensively study what is needed for battlefield treatment, and the center's scientific research for war has become more and more solid. In recent years, a number of scientific research achievements of the center have been applied to the training ground, and have been affirmed by the officers and men of the front-line troops. At present, they are stepping up efforts to promote a number of scientific research projects urgently needed for combat training, and are constantly making greater contributions to the building of the combat strength of the troops.
