On April 24, the 3rd "Belt and Road" International Symposium on Food Safety and Nutrition, sponsored by the School of Food Science of Southwest University and the Sino-Hungarian Food Science Cooperation Research Center, was held in the Industrial Technology Research Institute of Southwest University, Beibei District.

Bai Li, Consul General of the Consulate General of Hungary in Chongqing, Zhang Huasheng, Science and Technology Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, Lei Hongmei, Science and Technology Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Spain, experts and scholars in the field of food science from Hungary, Egypt, Spain and other countries, heads of relevant functional departments of Southwest University, and teachers and students of the School of Food Science attended the meeting in a combination of online and offline ways. The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Wu Junping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Food Science of Southwest University.

In his speech, Baili said that this year is the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary. The Sino-Hungarian Food Science Cooperative Research Center, jointly established by Southwest University and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, has been included in the list of priority cooperation projects of the China-Hungary "Belt and Road".

Zhang Huasheng and Lei Hongmei delivered speeches at the conference respectively, introducing a series of international science and technology cooperation measures and policies between China and Egypt and China and Spain, hoping that the cooperation teams will further broaden the cooperation channels and make new contributions to the "Belt and Road" international science and technology and cooperation.

During the conference, experts and scholars from the Food Research Institute of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the Institute of Oils and Fats of the Spanish National Research Council, the University of Alexandria in Egypt, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University and the Sino-Hungarian Food Science Cooperation Research Center of Southwest University carried out 10 academic reports, and also held a special academic report for graduate students, summarizing the achievements of the project cooperation, sharing research experience, and discussing international scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges under the new situation.

Wu Junping said that the seminar has laid a solid foundation for further promoting international scientific and technological cooperation in the field of food safety and nutrition in Beibei District and Southwest University, and will play a positive role in promoting scientific and technological innovation cooperation in the "Belt and Road" and promoting Beibei's scientific and technological innovation, and adding a scientific and technological innovation atmosphere to the innovation ecosystem of Southwest University 2.0.
