"Fishing crayfish in cool weather is a better way to keep it alive. In the view of Gao Dalun, chairman of the Luxian Haimu Rice and Shrimp Professional Cooperative, who has raised crayfish for 8 years, it is better to catch shrimp in rainy weather than on sunny days.
In the fields, you can see that the villagers do not use small boats to catch shrimp, but use a simple floating board, which can come and go freely in the water. "Compared with the boat, the floating board is lighter and easier to operate, can bear 300 pounds, a villager can complete the fishing work of a field, if you use a boat to fish, you have to cooperate with several people at the same time, which is time-consuming and laborious. Liu Yanbing, a member of the Luxian Sea Animal Husbandry and Breeding Cooperative, said.
Changes in fishing tools have shortened the time it takes for crayfish to land.
The freshly caught crayfish are transported to a "sorting center" about 1 kilometre away in the village for sorting and packing. Recently, a new "equipment" has been introduced that automatically weighs the crayfish, which can be sorted into small, medium and large sizes by simply "sitting" on the conveyor belt.
"The machine can sort 300 catties of shrimp in one hour, and if it is sorted manually, it requires 5-6 people to operate at the same time. Gao Dalun said that the sorter can not only improve the efficiency of sorting shrimp, but also avoid the situation of different quality and size of crayfish caused by manual sorting.
Previously, the cooperative encountered a situation where customers asked for a refund of the price difference due to the different weights of individual shrimp in a box of crayfish. Gao Dalun said that the addition of sorting machines can not only reduce manpower, but also better meet customer needs.
The shift from manual sorting to machine sorting has accelerated the time it takes for crayfish to be delivered to tables everywhere.
According to reports, Luxian Sea Animal Husbandry Breeding Cooperative is currently the largest rice and shrimp co-cropping agricultural complex organization in Lu County, with more than 30,000 members, and the radiation has driven the development of more than 100,000 acres of rice and shrimp three-dimensional aquaculture in the county. Among them, Lishi Town is one of the core areas of crayfish farming, and in addition, the largest development core base is 20,000 acres in Xuantan Town.
"At present, we have set up crayfish breeding bases and sorting centers in Xuantan, Lishi, Fangdong, Shiqiao and other towns in Luxian County. Gao Dalun said.
There have been new changes from fishing to sorting, and there are further plans for crayfish farming. Liao Meng, technical director of Luxian Haimu Rice and Shrimp Professional Cooperative, introduced that good water quality can raise crayfish with firm and fatty flesh, so this year, the cooperative plans to introduce water quality monitoring equipment to monitor the impact of water quality on lobsters at any time.
"The equipment can monitor ammonia nitrogen, nitrite, PH value, dissolved oxygen and other data in the water in real time, such as low pH value, quicklime can be added in time, and oxygen can be applied in time when the oxygen content is low, so as to achieve fine management. Liao Meng said that in the past, only human test strips and reagents could be used to test water quality on site, and 100 acres of land may need to be monitored for a day, and the data monitored by the equipment is more accurate, and multiple farmlands can be monitored at the same time.
Recently, Lu County is planning to build a lobster food street project in Xuantan Town, at that time, will build a new storage and processing center in the modern agricultural park of rice and fishery, supporting the rice and shrimp display center, rice and shrimp sorting and trading, lobster improved insulation pool, refrigerated constant temperature room, water cultivation material processing warehouse, feed processing workshop and other functional rooms.
Yu Ping, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xuantan Town, Luxian County, introduced that the project plans to invest 6 million yuan, and is currently deepening the design plan, and is expected to complete the project design budget by the end of April, and move forward to the construction site at the end of August. "After the completion of the project, it will provide strong support for extending the Xuantan rice and shrimp breeding industry chain, boosting the upgrading of the park's infrastructure, enhancing the brand influence of Xuantan rice and shrimp, and developing ecological tourism agriculture. Yu Ping said.
In recent years, Lu County has dug deep into the advantages of climate, resources, location, technology and other advantages, vigorously promoted the quality and efficiency of the aquatic industry and the green and healthy development, and at the same time linked Yongchuan and Jiangjin to build 1 million acres of "Bashu Fish and Rice Township". Combined with the long history of rice cultivation in Luxian County, the local government has explored the efficient planting and breeding mode of "3411 rice and shrimp co-cropping" and "double rice and double shrimp", which has improved the enthusiasm of rice and shrimp planting and breeding in the county.
Zhang Deming, head of the Fishery and Fishery Administration Management Unit of Lu County Agriculture and Rural Bureau, said that in 2023, Lu County will add 30,000 mu of rice and shrimp planting and breeding area, which has reached more than 150,000 mu in total, and achieved an output of 52,700 tons of aquatic products, ranking second in the province. Among them, the output of crayfish is 12,000 tons, becoming the largest single product of aquaculture in Luxian County, ranking first in the province.
