Located about 18 kilometers south of the center of Luanda, the capital of Angola, Kailamba New City is the largest livelihood project undertaken by a Chinese enterprise in the region. The project officially started in 2008, and more than 700 buildings and 20,000 houses were successfully delivered in 2012, with complete supporting facilities such as schools, waterworks, sewage treatment plants, and substations. At present, the total construction area of the project is about 3.31 million square meters, and the residential population has reached 120,000.
After the completion of the new city of Kailamba, it was called by the Angolan government as a model of post-war reconstruction in Angola and the "pearl" of Angola and even the African continent. This project is a testament to the deep friendship between the Chinese and Angolan peoples, and is a model of equality, friendship, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation between the two countries.
