Paving, is to completely lay the tip of the brush on the paper, a good paving, will bring better effect to the calligraphy dot painting. Analyzing and studying the words written by those who don't know how to pave the mark, the dot painting is weak and floating, and one of the fundamental reasons is that they have not learned to lay the hand. Their words are always floating on the paper, and they can't sink, which is caused by not being able to lay out and not use a pen.
In order to learn to pave the hao, many calligraphers believe that learning the seal calligraphy is an effective way to learn the paving. Therefore, they suggested that learning calligraphy should start with seal calligraphy, which is a fundamental and effective method. Seal calligraphy because of their dotted lines in the penmanship rarely have extra action, on the one hand it is simple and convenient to learn, on the other hand, it is very beneficial to calligraphy with a pen, paving. The ancients divided dot painting into three sections: the beginning of the brush, the line of the brush, and the end of the brush. Based on this characteristic, the ancients emphasized the way of using the brush: Bao Shichen of the Qing Dynasty believed that "the method of using the brush can be seen at both ends of the painting, and the ancients are strong and unbridled and unattainable, and those who are unattainable are cut off in the painting." It can be seen that this "middle of the painting" is the most critical point in the quality of dot painting or the method of using the brush. In general, the pen can be a sharp pen, a square pen or a round pen, the pen can be closed or not paused, but the middle line of the pen is the most critical, here there may be a press, translation, twisting, twisting, etc., the addition of these strokes, will enrich the process of using the pen in the cut.
Here, there are two key brushstrokes that will bring a high level of quality to the dot painting. One is to press the pen. There are many people who think that there is no difficulty in using a pen to lift and press. But just imagine, originally in the process of the brush, as long as the same posture is maintained, the strokes it walks through is a "consistency" characteristic, as usual, but if in this consistent stroke, increase the brushwork of the press, its difficulty will increase, and at the same time it will enrich the requirements of line quality, and at this time, it will exceed the "consistency" approach, and it will be superior.
The second brushwork is the twisting method, which we will not discuss whether this is a brushwork, but it is at least an important expression method in the technique. What is the twisting method? It is to use three fingers to rub the pen barrel to make the pen tip gathered, so as to meet the requirements of the center of the pen. The reason is that the pen may disturb the stroke in the process of lifting and pressing, and there may also be a deviation of the edge, at this time, through the method of twisting the tube, the brush strokes are brought back together, so that the dot painting can write a thicker texture.
Of course, we can't deny that there are also side side front brushes, the addition of these brushwork, will also enrich the calligraphy of the penmanship, but, for the side side of the front, it is the easiest to bring a sense of float to the calligraphy, as far as possible to use the center of the brush method, will greatly overcome the shortcomings of these brushwork, on the basis of learning the center of the brush, in the future to extend and improve the use of the pen, the side side of the front line of the pen will be easy to get started.
