The inaugural Wynn Classics – China Wine Competition was held in Macao on April 13 and was attended by 500 wine experts from around the world, representatives of top Chinese wine wineries, industry professionals, international media and wine lovers to unveil a number of highly anticipated awards. After a rigorous review, "Changhe Jade Reserve Marselan 2021" won the "Best Chinese Wine of the Year" award. For its exceptional quality, this wine has also been awarded the titles of "Best Red Wine", "Best Marselan" and "Best Ningxia Wine". "Xige N28 Chardonnay 2021" won two awards: "Best White Wine" and "Best Value for Money Wine". The "Sino-French Château Petit Manseng Sweet White 2018" was voted "Best Sweet Wine", "Best Petit Manssen" and "Best North China Wine".

27 of the world's top authoritative judges, including seven Master of Wine MW, three Master Sommelier MS, winemakers, trainers, writers, hoteliers and wine buyers, tasted 700 entries from nearly 200 Chinese wine wineries in a blind evaluation mode. The jury was a strong line-up, including Chairman Mak Tak Wah and three Vice-Chairmen, Master of Wine Fongyee Walker MW, Gus Zhu MW and Andrew Caillard MW.

All participating wines will be tasted and scored on a case-by-case basis to compete for the Bronze Award (85-89 points), Silver Award (90-94 points) and Gold Medal (95-100 points), while all Gold Award winners will compete for the "Best Chinese Wine of the Year" award, as well as 23 individual awards in the "Wynn Classics Awards", "Excellence in Varietal Awards" and "Region Champion Awards" categories. The Chinese wines that won the title of "Best" in each award category set an unrivalled benchmark in the industry, encouraging the industry to continue to strive for excellence.

Renowned winemaker Dai Hongjing conducted a master class on wine pairing, while Professor of Oenology Ma Huiqin introduced wines from Shandong, Xinjiang and Ningxia to the guests in two master classes. The event kicked off with the esteemed Julian MW and more than 400 guests at the China Wine Reception at the Wynn Macau Ballroom on Friday. Julian MW also hosted the "China Boutique Winery Symposium" to share his insights and insights on China's wine industry with winery representatives, winemakers and guests.
