Not long ago, the exposure of a public official's beating incident caused an uproar on the Internet. In this incident, an ordinary citizen clashed with a public official, and what is surprising is that the public official took the initiative to beat the citizen. It should have been punished by the law, but the result was unbelievable – public officials were only given warnings, while citizens could face legal punishment for fighting back.
Where is social justice? Why does the law seem to turn a blind eye to public officials who take the initiative to beat people? Who is undermining the fairness and justice of our society?
Whether we are public officials or ordinary citizens, we should be subject to the same legal constraints and protections. But the reality shows us two different treatments, which makes people feel deeply disappointed and indignant.
First of all, the act of beating a public official is itself a contempt and departure from the law. As leaders and service providers, they are supposed to lead by example and maintain social order and justice. However, when their actions are contrary to our expectations, our trust is severely undermined.
Second, the unfairness of the results is even more unacceptable. The fact that public officials have only been given warnings is undoubtedly a disregard for the rights and interests of ordinary citizens. If citizen retaliation is considered illegal, can public officials be allowed to hit people?
Social justice and fairness are based on the support of the law, but the beating of public officials has severely damaged our confidence in the justice of the law. We cannot tolerate such injustices, and we need to call on the relevant authorities to strengthen oversight to ensure that public officials do not abuse their power and deviate from the law.
At the same time, we also ask the whole society to pay attention to this matter and jointly uphold the rule of law and fairness. Only through the guidance and supervision of public opinion can we ensure that such incidents receive the attention and resolution they deserve and that the victims are treated fairly.
As members of society, each of us should contribute to fairness and justice. We must raise our awareness of the law and consciously abide by the law, and at the same time, we must use our voices and actions to defend our rights and interests and fairness. Only in this way can we truly achieve fairness and justice in society.
