In my communication with Lahore, I learned that marriage in India is somewhat different from that in the mainland, where the man needs to pay a high bride price, and many men cannot marry a wife because of the bride price.
In India, the preference for sons is very serious, and many girls can't control their lives, and they are married off by their parents early in the situation of arranged marriages, and the women have to pay a high dowry, and they can't marry if they can't afford it.
