On April 8, the Ministry of Education announced the results of the 2024 filing of higher vocational education majors, with a total of 66,870 majors to be enrolled in 2024. Compared with 2023, 6,068 new professional points will be added and 5,052 professional points will be withdrawn.
In recent years, the Ministry of Education has continuously strengthened the adjustment and optimization of the establishment of higher vocational education majors, and guided and supported the establishment of higher vocational education majors to serve major national strategies, regional key industries and characteristic industries, and the needs of people's livelihood.

Modern agriculture
Focusing on major tasks such as food security and rural revitalization, we will support the establishment of 325 professional sites such as modern agricultural technology, seed production and management, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, horticultural technology, and green food production technology.
Advanced manufacturing
Focusing on key links such as manufacturing, assembly and adjustment, operation, operation and maintenance of key industrial chains, we will support the addition of 2,123 professional points such as integrated circuit technology, aircraft digital manufacturing technology, new energy vehicle inspection and maintenance technology, and artificial intelligence application technology.
Modern service industry
Support the establishment of 376 professional points related to productive services such as modern logistics management, road transport management, and automotive technical services and marketing, and add 806 professional points in urgent need of people's livelihood, such as smart health care management, modern housekeeping service and management, and infant and child care services and management.
Traditional culture and art
Support the establishment of 506 professional sites such as the restoration and protection of cultural relics, national traditional skills, national costumes and accessories, and national performing arts.
The school sets its own direction
In addition to the above areas, the Ministry of Education has further expanded the provincial government's education co-ordination power and the autonomy of schools to run schools, encouraging schools to keep up with the needs of the industry and set their own professional directions.
In 2024, a total of 481 schools have set up 2,281 professional directions, such as agricultural Internet of Things, high-speed rail power supply, Central Asian trade, football training, and Sichuan opera performance. Correspondingly, keeping up with the changes in demand, 2,635 locations were cancelled for 68 majors, including big data and accounting, modern secretarial, e-commerce, tourism management, marketing, computer applications, and flight attendants, which were relatively oversupplied.
It is understood that the filing of the establishment of higher vocational education majors has made great adjustments and optimizations to the distribution of majors, which is the largest year since the release of the new version of the "Vocational Education Professional Catalog" in 2021.
In addition, the Ministry of Education accepted a total of 178 applications for the establishment of new nationally controlled distribution majors in 2024, and after reviewing with the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Justice, the National Health Commission, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and other industry authorities, 75 professional points were agreed to be set up, and 103 professional points were not agreed to be set up. The early education major of Nanchong Vocational and Technical College in Sichuan Province has been approved and set up.
The state-controlled distribution majors approved and approved will be introduced into the national vocational college professional establishment management and public information service platform, and can be enrolled from 2024.
