The inventory of domestic sesame seeds is limited, and some sesame oil factories have begun to purchase imported sesame seeds, and domestic sesame shipments have improved slightly. In the latest week, the daily shipment of sesame in Huangdao Port was about 4,700 tons, an increase of 800 tons/day from a week ago, and the daily shipment of Tianjin Port was about 2,200 tons, an increase of 400 tons/day. Although the international sesame quotation has been relatively stable recently, due to the recent decline in the RMB exchange rate, the cost of imported sesame from the mainland has increased, which is also one of the reasons for the confusion of traders in the port area. The price of sesame in Ethiopia was US$2044/ton, equivalent to the duty-paid cost of 16,200 yuan/ton, up 100 yuan/ton, and the price of sesame in Sudan was US$2,026/ton, equivalent to about 16,130 yuan/ton, up 60 yuan/ton.
Although the domestic and foreign oilmeal markets have continued to rise recently, and catering consumption in some areas has improved during the Qingming holiday, on the whole, it is still in the off-season of sesame consumption, especially in the port area of imported sesame inventory, and some traders in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are also ready to suspend sesame trade and turn to rapeseed trade, so the domestic sesame market will still be light in the short term, and its price will be stable.
