Sony releases new firmware for Alpha1, Alpha7S III, and Alpha 7 IV to enhance post-production workflows

On March 28, 2024, Sony released firmware updates for several mirrorless ™ cameras, including Alpha1 (Ver.2.00), Alpha7S III (Ver.3.00), Alpha7 IV (Ver.3.00), and Alpha9 III (Ver.2.00) firmware that will be available after April 2024. This update includes enhancements to shooting capabilities and post-processing workflows, including support for the new version of RemoteCamera Tool, Creators' App, and Monitor & ControlApp. Sony has always listened carefully to the voices of creators, and continuously improved the functionality and scalability of its products around the needs of creators, so as to provide creators with a more efficient shooting experience.

  • Various ways have been added to play back and filter captured images, such as image filtering in FTP transfer state
  • The maximum number of recorded images in a folder has been increased from 4000 to 9999
  • Allowing timecode input via the Multi/microUSB port, you can set the timecode on the source device
  • Added support for importing/switching multiple (up to 20) IPTC presets
  • Added support for the C2PA format. (The validity date of the certificate is undetermined)
  • Added support for custom gridlines (available for a fee, availability pending.) )

■FTP transfer & network function

  • Users can use FTP to automatically transfer videos and photos that are set to "protected".
  • Videos/photos transferred via FTP can also be automatically "protected"
  • During the FTP transfer process, you can manually select specific photos to be transferred first
  • Added support for SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) for more secure data transfer
  • WirelessLAN security now supports WPA3-SAE
  • Supports WPA3-SAE wireless LAN protocol for more security
  • Improved remote shooting performance and photo transfer security in the Creators' App and ImagingEdge Desktop software

Remark:

The new Creators' App replaces the ImagingEdge Mobile app. Creators' App lets you transfer photos from your camera to your smartphone, take photos remotely, and use a variety of other features

The Monitor & Control app is used to wirelessly connect the camera, monitor videos and shoot remotely from your smartphone or tablet

A free license needs to be installed to use it

This feature is supported in version 4.1.00 of RemoteCamera Tool

A separate dedicated adapter cable is required to connect the timecode's source device to the camera

Imaging Edge Desktop needs to be upgraded to the latest version (3.7.0 or later)

When using a USB connection for a Type-C port to connect peripherals, please purchase a separate USB cable or adapter

You need to use the Creators'App to specify the live streaming URL, Creators'App ver.2.3.1 or later.
