BYD is crazy in Brazil! A single-day order of 963 units: the 330,000 Song PLUS sold out

Fast Technology reported on March 26 that BYD, a domestic new energy vehicle, is not only popular in China, but also very popular in overseas markets.

On March 23, 2024, BYD received 963 orders at the "Electric Day" event held in Brazil, a record high, and the biggest highlight of the day was not the Seagull, but the Song PLUS DM-i 51km version priced at 330,000 yuan, which sold 248 units, accounting for more than a quarter.

It is worth mentioning that the day before, BYD launched the "BYD Recharge" APP in Brazil, and through the self-developed and self-produced "optical storage and charging (solar + energy storage + charging pile)" integrated solution, it joined hands with Shell and other partners to improve the construction of charging infrastructure in Brazil.

Brazil is one of the earliest markets for BYD to enter the market, bringing a number of best-selling models to the region, including Dolphin, Seal, Seagull, Tang, Song PLUS, and Han EV.

Among them, the Song PLUS DM-i sold in Brazil is the domestic entry-level version, with a pure electric range of only 51 kilometers, but the price is as high as 330,000 yuan, which is a proper "luxury car", but even so, it still sells well.

Due to the best-selling products, BYD announced last year that it would set up a large-scale production base complex consisting of three factories in Camasari City with the government of the Brazilian state of Oia, with a total investment of 3 billion reais (equivalent to about 4.5 billion yuan).

Earlier this month, the plant began construction and is expected to be completed and put into operation early next year, with a production capacity of 150,000 units, producing four models: the Dolphin, the Song Plus DM-i Yuan Plus and the Dolphin MINI.
