Album Title: Spring Relief

Singer: Ye Qianwen

Publisher: Windrun Records

Released: 1980

Album language: Mandarin/English

This ancient album does not belong to the surging piracy frenzy, it is the original version introduced by the New Era Audio-Visual Company in the early 90s of the last century, sandwiched in the colorful Hong Kong and Taiwan albums in 2003, Ye Qianwen's old-fashioned face due to the age is particularly dazzling.

When the times made Qi Yu a master, Li Taixiang jumped out as a master. In 2001 "Li Taixiang and His Female Disciples", the names of several seniors in the music world are listed, and Ye Qianwen is among them. The source is "Spring Relief". How did this album with the logo of Li Taixiang's collection choose a person who has a vague Chinese language and does not adhere to neo-folk songism? Perhaps only the creator at the time knew the intention of publication.

In all fairness, Ye Qianwen's potential under Li Taixiang's baton has been exerted, but with Qi Yu first, it is inevitable that there will be superiority in comparison. However, we should see that in the 90s, when the Four Heavenly Kings ruled the world, the courage of such an attempt was greater than the significance of the album itself. Li Taixiang left a memorable record for Ye Qianwen (more valuable than the later "Burning Heart with Fire" and the later "Choice"), and also opened up a broader battlefield for new folk songs.

But it's a pity that this album, which was produced in Taiwan and released simultaneously across the Taiwan Strait and three places, was not valued for its historical value. In the days when idols were wildly popular, the portrait of people who insisted on art songs insisted on a revolution that would not win. Ye Qianwen is like Mok Wenwei who has just debuted at this time, with an ideal and the courage to change the status quo. In "Spring Relief", Li Taixiang transforms national sorrow into a delicate pastoral scene, whether it is song selection or arrangement, Li Taixiang's unique light and spiritual harmony interweaves a warm sense of flow. Although Li Taixiang did not give Ye Qianwen a difficult work, this just makes the record dilute the pursuit of artistic texture, and is close to the natural taste of the smooth melody of folk songs. You can still smell the grass, the sun, the shepherd boy, and you can see the lover watching under the same sky. Ye Qianwen got rid of Qi Yu's lofty gaze, and for the first time made Li Taixiang's work feel like a girl next door, which was a bold attempt for both Li and Ye. The results speak for themselves, and they still leave us in a deep depression that we can't extricate ourselves from.
