On the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the "Friends of Youth, Enjoy the Future" Sino-Russian Youth Concert was held in Beijing

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, and coincides with the Year of Culture between China and Russia. On the evening of April 25, the Sino-Russian Youth Concert "Friends of Youth, Enjoy the Future" was held in the hall of the Guoyin Hall of the China Conservatory of Music. The young musicians of the two countries used music as a link to present an audio-visual feast of Chinese and Russian music.

Chinese and Russian young artists jointly performed 14 classic repertoire, which was divided into three chapters: "Notes of National Memory", "Dialogue of Musical Instruments" and "Sino-Russian Friendship Lasts".

Chinese musicians Ji Tian, An Yi, Li Lin and Zhao Hongyun sang "Peach Blossom Red, Apricot Blossom White", "Mayila Variations", "Shichahai, Love Song of the Heart", "Bolero Dance" and other folk songs with the characteristics of Shanxi, Beijing and Kazakh. Russian musicians Daniel Kim Yegor and Gamelin Yevgeny affectionately performed two songs with Russian style, "War Horse" and "Long Road". The six songs highlighting the national characteristics of China and Russia, like notes engraved in the depths of the national memories of the two countries, aroused strong resonance among the audience.

In the "Dialogue of Musical Instruments" section, Russian musicians Petrov Vitaly, Galitsky Andrei, Dementieeva Alexandra and Andrei Petrov performed on piano, guitar, violin and domera. Chinese musicians Li Yuhe, Feng Yao and Yang Tingting performed violin and cello ensembles and pipa concertos, performing classic pieces such as "The Nutcracker" and "Evening on the outskirts of Moscow".

In the third chapter, Chinese and Russian musicians sang three representative Chinese and Russian songs, "The Moon Represents My Heart", "Kalinka" and "Me and You", pushing the performance to a climax. When the familiar singing of the theme song "Me and You" of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games sounded, the audience was moved.

Li Yuhe, an associate professor at the China Conservatory of Music and a violinist, and cellist Feng Yao performed an adapted "skewer" version of the Russian classics "Evening on the Outskirts of Moscow" and "Katyusha", which won warm applause and cheers. She said that many famous pieces in the Western classical repertoire were written by Russian composers, and violin practitioners practiced them from an early age. Music is a bridge between the hearts and minds of the people of the two countries, and the exchange and presentation of their excellent culture by young musicians at the concert will naturally arouse strong resonance from the audience.

"Post-00s" Russian singer Gamelin Yevgeny was born in Blagoveshchensk, across the river from Heihe City, Heilongjiang. He told reporters that he began to learn Chinese at the age of 16 under the urging of his mother. He and other young musicians made a special trip from St. Petersburg to attend this concert, and when they came to Beijing for the first time, they were very excited to see the blue sky and the bustling city. "The Long Road" is a world-renowned track, and he chose to dedicate this fast-paced, beautiful song to the audience.

This concert was held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia and celebrate the Sino-Russian Cultural Year, guided by the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, co-sponsored by the Beijing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Beijing Russian Cultural Center and China Conservatory of Music, and undertaken by the Art Practice Center of China Conservatory of Music. A total of 500 people attended the performance, including diplomats from the Russian Embassy in China, representatives of people from all walks of life, representatives of international students, representatives of the Beijing Municipal Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and representatives of teachers and students of the China Conservatory of Music.
