As a new power version, the Xpander HEV retains the main design of the petrol version, with HEV logos on the front grille, sides and rear ends. In order to differentiate itself from the petrol version in terms of exterior details, the Xpander HEV has added blue elements to the side skirts and rim areas to reflect its identity as a petrol-electric hybrid model.

Inside, the Xpander HEV gets a new steering wheel similar to the Mitsubishi Xforce, with an 8-inch LCD screen on the instrument cluster and a new look for the gear lever and drive mode selector lever.
There are 4 working conditions for the hybrid system
The Xpander HEV is powered by a 1.6-liter MIVEC petrol engine (95 hp / 134 Nm of torque) and an electric motor (116 hp / 255 Nm of torque). The drivetrain is mated to an e-CVT continuously variable automatic transmission with front-wheel drive. The hybrid battery is installed under the front seats, and the 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 9.7 seconds, and the average fuel consumption given by Mitsubishi is 5.2 l/100 km.
The Xpander series is a model launched by Mitsubishi in 2017 and is mainly sold in emerging markets such as Southeast Asia. The Xpander mid-facelift released in 2019 is currently available overseas, with the Xpander positioned as a compact MPV and the Xpander Cross with a crossover package (ground clearance increased by 10 mm to 205 mm).
In the Southeast Asian market, the Mitsubishi Xpander mainly competes with models such as the Toyota Innova, Suzuki Ertiga, and Hyundai Stargazer. Based on past sales statistics, the Xpander series is the sales pillar of the Mitsubishi brand, with more than 130,000 units sold worldwide in 2022, ranking third among all Mitsubishi brand models, behind the Triton (L200) and Outlander.
