From today, any traffic mistake will be punished in any EU country. The European Parliament has adopted a road safety directive. According to her, EU citizens whose driver's licenses have been revoked in EU countries will no longer be able to drive in any member state.
"The directive has only one goal, which is to reduce tragedies and loss of life on public roads. Unfortunately, in Europe, where the number of fatalities from road traffic accidents is increasing by 3% per year, Romania remains in first place with 86 cases per million inhabitants. The directive establishes a cooperative system and transmits information between the Member State where the crime occurred and the Member State that issued the driver's license, in order to establish specific procedures and obligations for all EU countries," explained MEP Corina Cretu to Aleph News.
Offences under this directive include: speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under narcotics, and causing death or serious bodily injury to another person as a result of any traffic offense. Luohua News Agency
