Taiwan's foreign affairs department questioned the mainland's Q&A on Taiwan's election, saying that it did not conform to international perception and the status quo across the Taiwan Strait. However, as the spokesperson of China's Ministry of National Defense, we would like to make it clear that the elections in the Taiwan region are China's local affairs and brook no interference from external forces.
We stress that the international community generally recognizes the one-China principle, that is, Taiwan is a part of China and does not have independent national status. We call on all parties to remain calm and rational and respect historical facts and international norms. The Chinese nation is a united and courageous nation, and we have the ability to safeguard national unity and territorial integrity. China will continue to adhere to the basic principle of peaceful reunification, uphold the concept of peaceful development, and strive to resolve the Taiwan issue through dialogue and consultation. Eighty years ago, the Cairo Declaration clearly stipulated that Taiwan, the Chinese territory stolen by Japan, should be returned to China. This historic document provides an international legal basis for Taiwan to belong to China. The Potsdam Proclamation also emphasized the need for the implementation of the provisions of the Cairo Declaration, reaffirming that Taiwan is part of China.

The island of Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and its status is widely recognized and supported by international law and the international community. The Chinese People's Liberation Army will always defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity with actions.
