Scottish smoked salmon and shellfish producer Associated Seafoods was not affected by the results

Scottish smoked salmon and shellfish producer Associated Seafoods appears to have not been adversely affected by COVID-19 and Brexit in any way, with operating profit up 125% in the most recent financial year ending October 2020.

The group is the parent company of Lossie Seafoods and Moray Seafoods, with Associated Seafoods' total turnover slipping 3 per cent to £31.3 million.

In the smoked salmon side, the company's turnover in FY2020 was £27.6 million, down slightly from the previous year, but profits rose 81 per cent to £1.43 million. Shellfish turnover slipped to £3.75 million, while profit climbed to £550,000.

Associated Seafoods products are mainly supplied to retailers and wholesalers in the UK and international markets. Sales in the UK remained at £23.6 million, while sales in the EU and other markets fell 16% to £7.7 million.

Msc certification for the Danish rotary net cod fishing industry is for a period of 5 years, covering the cod fishing industry in the Kamchatka Kuril Islands and The Western Kamchatka region. Although the amount of cod obtained by this catch in 2019 was just over 12 000 tonnes, the amount doubled in 5 years.
