Located on Chaweng Beach in Koh Samui, Sala Chaweng is a 144-room hotel. It is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the Gulf of Thailand. The project will be divided into two phases, the first phase will be located on the beach and will contain 52 rooms, and the second phase will be along the street and will contain 82 rooms. The two phases of the project are divided by a single street. The Sala Chaweng has a large seaside swimming pool on the beach side, which is bright and vibrant, while the Sala Chaweng is made up of small courtyards along the street, connected by non-linear roads and preserved trees to form a lush environment. In contrast, the hotel on the street is more private and quiet.

The white walls are the main architectural element along the street side of the Sala Chaweng. They stretch for several meters and are huge and heavy, partly concave and partly convex. When designing walls, light and shadow are the main concern of architects.

Only the walls of the spa area are painted dark green and pink. These colorful walls will bring a new spatial experience to visitors who come to enjoy the spa. As the position of the sun changes throughout the day, the light changes direction and the building seems to come to life. The bathtub in the spa room is set in a garden surrounded by dark green walls. Clear glass doors allow natural light to enter the treatment rooms. There is no clear separation between the indoor and outdoor spaces of the hotel.

Each courtyard along the street side has its own character, making it easier for visitors to remember the space. The names of the five courtyards are Outdoor Terrace, Outdoor Dining Room, Outdoor Living Room, Outdoor Game Room, and Outdoor Bedroom. Each courtyard is furnished with household furniture such as a staircase, a 12-seat round table, a sofa, a swing, a bed and a huge light fixture. All furniture is placed between the existing trees and the new greenery. Guests can relax in the oversized bed, shaded by the trees by the pool, and enjoy a drink from the pool bar in a true resort atmosphere.

Designed with the sky in mind. At the junction of each courtyard there are vertical patios of different shapes, sizes and materials. Connecting the outdoor dining room to the outdoor bedroom is a rectangular space made up of layers of bamboo, while the transition between the outdoor dining room and the outdoor living room is an oval white concrete courtyard. In these spaces, visitors can look up at the sky and feel the warmth of the sun.

There are four types of rooms along the street side of the Sala Chaweng: the 329 sqm Garden Twin Pool Suite, the 181 sqm Garden Single Bed Duplex Pool Suite, the 77 sqm Garden Pool Villa and the 45 sqm Garden Duplex Balcony Room. The architects also set up a variety of objects in each room, such as lamps, beach bags, rattan trellises, and knots for opening drawers. Each room has a private backyard where guests can rest on a huge round bed by the private pool. The interior spaces of the Sala Chaweng seem to be an extension of the outdoor environment and vice versa.
