Huawei's "pure-blooded" HarmonyOS accelerates its entry into the market, and universities and enterprises aim at new outlets for ecological development

He specifically mentioned that in the future, it is necessary to build a strong HarmonyOS ecosystem, and 2024 is a key year for native HarmonyOS, which will accelerate the development of various HarmonyOS native applications.
It is reported that on January 18, Huawei will hold an important event in HarmonyOS, which will reveal the new chapter of the HarmonyOS ecosystem and HarmonyOS NEXT.
According to the news released by Huawei at the press conference, the construction of the HarmonyOS native application ecosystem has been fully launched, and HarmonyOS NEXT will remove the traditional Linux kernel and AOSP and other codes, and will no longer be compatible with Android applications.
At present, a number of domestic companies have launched the research and development of HarmonyOS applications, including applications of large companies such as Alibaba and Meituan.
In addition, Huawei has chosen to cooperate with universities to launch OpenHarmony-related courses, and some companies have launched HarmonyOS ecosystem development courses in response to this trend. Some developers in the industry said that now that the HarmonyOS terminal has reached 700 million, it is hard to imagine that developers will ignore such a huge market.
The construction of the "pure-blooded Hongmeng" ecosystem is particularly important
At the HarmonyOS Developer Conference, Huawei revealed that the HarmonyOS base has more than 100 million lines of code, 20,000 APIs, and more than 700 million ecological devices, and HarmonyOS has gone through four major iterations. For HarmonyOS, the most important thing at present is to build an independent application ecosystem that is not dependent on applications.
According to incomplete statistics from Xingkuang data, there are 19 listed companies in China, including iSoftStone, Runhe Software, Xinhai Technology, Tuowei Information, Oriental Zhongke, Runda Medical, Jieshun Technology, Kingsoft Office, etc., whose business scope covers HarmonyOS software development, Internet of Things and other HarmonyOS ecosystem-related businesses.
Referring to the company's annual report, in the HMS4.0 stage, the company participated in the construction of 17 of Huawei's 25 HMS planning capabilities, which can be said to be the core supplier of HMS.
In addition to its own "hematopoiesis", what is more critical to the development of the HarmonyOS ecosystem is the adaptation with external third-party enterprises.

A practitioner engaged in mobile application development told a reporter from New Consumption Daily: "Huawei is betting that developers will not ignore the huge number of devices in the HarmonyOS ecosystem. But at the same time, it is also necessary to face up to the fact that whether it is to redevelop the original HarmonyOS application, or to maintain and update the application later, it will take a lot of energy. Large manufacturers will follow up faster, while smaller manufacturers and independent developers may move a little slower. ”
Aiming at the Hongmeng development gap, universities and enterprises will end up
According to public data, 2.2 million HarmonyOS developers have invested in the development of the HarmonyOS ecosystem, and Shenwan Hongyuan Research Report said that the HarmonyOS market space is expected to exceed 10 billion yuan.
A Hongmeng ecological insider said that at present, there is a shortage of Hongmeng development talents, and there is a relative surplus of Android development talents, and the treatment of technical personnel who master Hongmeng is better than that of Android developers, which makes many developers willing to transfer to Hongmeng development.
In November 2023, Huawei announced the establishment of the OpenHarmony Technology Club with universities, positioning it as a university community organization. At present, there are 23 985 colleges and universities and 46 211 colleges and universities in the country that are or will soon offer Hongmeng-related courses.
In addition, Huawei has long participated in the industry-academia collaborative education project guided by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, and has documented more than 150 courses from more than 100 universities in 2021. And the number of projects in 2021, 2022, and 2023 will be 20, 65, and 68, respectively.
There are also many companies targeting the market of HarmonyOS ecological developer training, such as Jiahuan Technology and Chuanzhi Education.
Among them, Jiahuan Technology said on the interactive platform that the company is a resident unit of the Huawei Developer Alliance Academy, jointly cultivating HarmonyOS ecological talents, and won the "2023 Huawei Developer Alliance HarmonyOS Ecological Talent Development Award" and other honors.
"The company has a HarmonyOS development course, and the HarmonyOS hardware/software development course has been added to the two disciplines of "integrated circuit application development (including embedded)" and "HTML&JS+ front-end". The course "HarmonyOS 4.0 Getting Started to Developing Practical Tutorial" has been launched on Bilibili. ”
Previously, Chuanzhi Education had launched the first "Standard Version of HarmonyOS Application Development Xi Roadmap" on the whole network, covering software and hardware development courses, consistent with Huawei's official website, and adding the actual combat of real business line projects, the training course will be held in Beijing in February this year.
The two companies also emphasized that at present, the HarmonyOS ecosystem is still in the development stage, and the impact on the industry and the company needs to be gradually revealed in the future development process.
Major General Ding, the founder of Nail Technology, told the New Consumption Daily reporter that the larger the scale of the equipment carried by the Hongmeng system, the greater its ecological value and the higher the competition barriers.
