In 1929, Ge Cunzhuang was born in an ordinary Hebei farming family. When he was young, he didn't know anything about acting, until he was 10 years old, he followed his family to the cold Northeast to make a living, and began a turbulent childhood.
At the age of 16, Ge Cunzhuang was fortunate to become a Xi laboratory technician at the railway hospital, and although his work was boring, he still actively participated in literary and artistic activities. Every time he plays the huqin or violin, he can temporarily forget the fatigue of life.
At the age of 18, Ge Cunzhuang mustered up the courage to apply for the art troupe, which was like seeing the first ray of light in the darkness for him. On the day of the interview, he was nervously sweating in his palms, for fear that he would not perform well.
Under the teacher's guidance, he played to his heart's content and finally passed the exam as he wished.
When he first appeared on the stage, Ge Cunzhuang was excited. He did his best to play the role, and won the long-lasting applause from the audience. After the performance, Ge Cunzhuang strengthened his belief in art.
The seeds of his acting career have quietly sprouted in this green year.
Crawl and roll: hard work
At the age of 20, Ge Cunzhuang entered the film studio, and his first step into the screen was not smooth. Directors always exclude him from the role consideration at first sight, and he can only start from the role and play some small roles with no lines.
In those difficult years, Ge Cunzhuang was not discouraged. After the play, he will devote himself to studying acting skills and quietly watch the wonderful performances of his predecessors on the set. Colleagues saw it in their eyes and praised his hard-working attitude.
In the 60s of the last century, Ge Cunzhuang created a series of terrifying negative images in many red-themed movies. Both Kameda and the traitor Yang Shouye have become famous villains on the screen.
When the reputation of the "Five Villains" was crowned by Ge Cunzhuang, he was no longer the little actor who could only play tricks.
Variety Ge Ye: Master of supporting roles
From the 70s to the 90s of the last century, it was the heyday of Ge Cunzhuang's acting career. As a supporting actor, he not only has more than 60 works, but also has a wide variety of roles, and is affectionately known as "Variety Ge Ye" by his colleagues in the industry.
Comedy, tragedy, positive and negative, Ge Cunzhuang seems to be familiar with all types of characters. In the focus drama "Red Flag Spectrum", he carefully portrayed the landlord Feng Lanchi from youth to twilight; In the action movie "Martial Arts Chronicles", he perfectly played the martial arts master.
In the face of different roles, he can quickly enter the state, dig into the hearts of the characters, and show amazing performance changes.
In 1998, in a TV series called "Zhou Enlai", Ge Cunzhuang played Qi Baishi in his later years. His strong northern accent and gentle and wise eyes portray the character of this old painter vividly.
In the end, he won the highest honor of the year - the Golden Rooster Award for Best Supporting Actor for this role. At the age of 60, he stood on the podium, in addition to excitement, there was also a trace of emotion and relief in his heart.
Father Qi Zi Yang: Well deserved
In 1957, Ge You was born in a family of actors. But this "second generation star" did not directly become a popular student, but suffered the pain of failing the exam. Watching his son return disappointed again and again, Ge Cunzhuang felt very uncomfortable.
Just after Ge You failed another exam, Ge Cunzhuang couldn't sit still. He decided to go out and become his son's enlightenment teacher. He first invited a number of professional tutors for Ge You to teach him basic knowledge such as music and recitation.
At the same time, he took time out every day to take Ge You to rehearse the sketch "Feeding the Pig" and correct the details of his performance over and over again.
Under Ge Cunzhuang's careful training, Ge You finally passed the selection and joined the art troupe to become an actor. In this regard, Ge Cunzhuang was relieved and did not forget to continue to urge his son to be strict with himself.
In 2002, his outstanding performance in the movie "Party A and Party B" made Ge You win the Hundred Flowers Award in one fell swoop. At the award ceremony, Ge Cunzhuang personally presented the trophy to his eldest son.
For him, the two identities converge at this moment, both as a father and as an old artist who has adhered to the art road for half a century, and he is sincerely happy and proud of Ge You.
The only regret: I didn't hold my grandson
After entering old age, Ge Cunzhuang is still active on the screen. It's just that most of the roles he played have been changed to ordinary roles and positive characters. In his spare time, he reads, fishes, plants flowers, and walks.
Life is calm and fulfilling.
Even so, Ge Lao couldn't help but sigh occasionally. His most beloved son Ge You has not had a child so far, and his only wish is to be able to hold his grandson.
"Son, you're not too young, isn't it good to raise a child later?" Every time there was a family banquet, Ge Cunzhuang couldn't help but mention a few words to Ge You. And Ge You and his wife just smiled, quite their own opinions.
Although it is regrettable, Ge Lao still respects his son's choice. He thought that now that his son has a successful career and a happy family, he will be satisfied as a father.
In 2016, Ge Cunzhuang died of illness at the age of 87. Although he failed to hold his grandson as he wished, looking back on his acting career, he has no regrets about this family.
