At the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Tai Lihua led the dance of "Guanyin with a Thousand Hands" on behalf of 60 million disabled people across the country, showing China's style to the world and shocking countless audiences. After that, she led the China Disabled Persons Art Troupe to put the performance of "Guanyin with a Thousand Hands" on the stage of the Spring Festival Gala, and dedicated a touching performance to the audience.
As a deaf and mute, Tai Lihua did not complain about the injustice of fate, but looked at the world with a strong and grateful attitude. In the face of the two sincere pursuits of Malaysian tycoons, Tai Lihua replied firmly: "I love my motherland, and I want to go back to my motherland." In the end, she married an ordinary science and engineering man, and the two have been married for 20 years and have lived very happily.
Since "Guanyin with a Thousand Hands", Tai Lihua seems to have disappeared from people's sight, and she can rarely be seen performing again. So, how is she living now?
The unexpected struck, and the sky fell apart
In 1981, Tai Lihua was born in an ordinary working family in Hebei Province, and her parents were both workers in a local garment factory. Tai Lihua is the only daughter in the family and is loved by her parents and the whole family. She is lively and cute, and is often praised by neighborhood aunts for being a beautiful and smart good girl.
It wasn't until Tai Lihua was two years old that a sudden illness changed the fate of her and her family. In the early spring of that year, Tai Lihua unfortunately contracted measles, and her condition recurred and could not be cured. Her parents took her to seek medical treatment in major local hospitals, but none of them could cure Tai Lihua's illness.
Seeing that their daughter's condition was getting worse and worse, and the high fever did not go away, the parents were anxious. They decided to take Tai Lihua to the best hospital in the provincial capital for medical treatment. At the provincial hospital, the attending doctor decided to give Tai Lihua a large dose of streptomycin, hoping to quickly control the condition. However, to everyone's surprise, Tai Lihua had an unusually strong allergic reaction to this antibiotic.
Soon after the onset of the drug's effect, Tai Lihua began to scream loudly, which was very painful. The doctors and nurses were helpless and could only watch Tai Lihua die in pain under the effect of the drug.
Two days later, Tai Lihua's pain finally ended, but with it came the cruel fact that she could no longer hear any sound. The results of the examination ruthlessly told the parents that their daughter's hearing had been permanently lost in the accident and could not be restored by any means.
The ordinary working parents were devastated, they couldn't believe that their beautiful daughter, who was still spoiled in her mother's arms, had become deaf at the age of two. They choked up and asked the doctor if there was any other way, but either doctor shook his head. At this moment, Tai Lihua's happy childhood came to an abrupt end.
Stick to your dancing dreams and never give up hope
Faced with this sudden change, Tai Lihua's parents were desperate for a while. What way out can a deaf and dumb child have in her life? Her father was sad all day long, and her mother was even more tearful.
Soon, however, the parents picked themselves up. They realized that they couldn't just give up on their daughter and had to give her a chance to get back on her feet.
So, her parents began to take Tai Lihua to look for schools all over the country. Finally, by chance, they found a dance major in an art school in Jiangsu that was willing to accept Tai Lihua. There are dance classes for children with disabilities.
Tai Lihua first came into contact with dance in this school. She seems to have found her own world and fell in love with it. Although it was difficult to learn Xi dance due to the loss of hearing, Tai Lihua did not give up.
At first, Tai Lihua often couldn't keep up with the teacher's beat and couldn't complete the movements correctly. But she was not discouraged in the slightest, and just silently stayed after everyone finished class, and repeated the practice Xi herself over and over again.
With the help of her teachers and classmates, Tai Lihua gradually mastered the skills of reading dance scores and perceiving music. By looking at the movements of her teachers and classmates, she can judge the rhythm; She would put her hand on the stereo and feel the vibrations of the music to grasp the melody. Gradually, she became the most improved student in the class.
Watching their daughter grow up day by day, the parents are very relieved. Maybe God is fair, and at the moment of belation, he finally gave his daughter a second chance to find her own life.
Take to the world stage and show off your dancing skills
Under the careful guidance of the school's teachers, Tai Lihua's dancing skills have become increasingly exquisite. Folk dance, classical dance, modern dance, as long as she delves into it, she can master and integrate it at an astonishing speed.
Three years later, Tai Lihua graduated with the first grade in the school, and soon became a professional dancer by the national China Disabled Persons Art Troupe with excellent conditions. Thus began her brilliant career on stage.
In 1992, 20-year-old Tai Lihua led the China Disabled Persons Art Troupe to Italy for the first time, taking the stage at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and performing the oriental-themed "Dunhuang Painted Sculptures". The ethereal and clear costumes and movements touched the European audience and showed the world the beauty of Chinese dance.
In 2000, Tai Lihua was invited to the United States to perform her original modern dance work "Spirit of the Sparrow" at Carnegie Hall in New York. This new modern dance with oriental connotations filled the audience, and the exquisite dance posture of the whirling and flying dance captivated the American audience present.
In 2005, Tai Lihua was invited to compose and direct the large-scale group dance "Guanyin with a Thousand Hands" for the closing ceremony of the Athens Paralympic Games. This ill-fated group dance was perfectly presented after a year.
The white-clothed dancers wrapped in silver and dancing gather and disperse in an orderly manner under the blue sky and white clouds, like a thousand-armed Buddha dancing in the void, and the scene is magnificent and shocking. This performance won Tai Lihua a warm applause from tens of thousands of viewers in Athens and Paralympic TV viewers around the world.
With the success of "Guanyin with a Thousand Hands", on the eve of the Spring Festival in 2006, Tai Lihua received a call from the CCTV Spring Festival Gala program team, officially inviting her to lead the disabled art troupe to appear in the CCTV Spring Festival Gala and perform this popular masterpiece "Guanyin with a Thousand Hands" again.
Showing her dance in front of hundreds of millions of viewers is the highest honor Tai Lihua has since she started her career. However, it also became her last performance on stage. Because just when the title of People's Artist was about to be obtained, Tai Lihua made a choice that shocked the whole country - she withdrew from the stage of performance.
Sacrifice yourself for others and devote yourself to public welfare
In the face of doubts from the outside world, Tai Lihua did not explain much. She simply expressed that she hopes to devote more energy to public welfare. So she set up her own public welfare foundation and began to devote herself to various public welfare activities.
Especially after the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 and the Yushu earthquake in Qinghai in 2010, her first reaction was to stand up and raise funds for the disaster area. She traveled everywhere and spared no effort to raise funds and supplies.
Even his savings from many years of performances were donated without hesitation. Such a generous act of kindness has made her praised by all walks of life.
Since then, Tai Lihua has devoted herself to helping children with disabilities. She has established and funded love studios in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and other cities to carry out public welfare education activities for hearing-impaired and other disabled children.
She also put her years of experience in dance to good use, using the income from her performances to establish a number of art schools and nurseries for the deaf, so that more hearing-impaired and disabled children can receive professional art education and are expected to shine on the stage in the future. Tai Lihua often teaches these children in person, imparts dance knowledge, tells her own stories, and brings them hope.
Live a low-key life and walk with love
Once Tai Lihua had just finished performing in Malaysia, a wealthy businessman from Kuala Lumpur came to see her with 999 roses.
Tai Lihua has no experience in love, and was taken aback by the sudden confession of a wealthy businessman.
She subconsciously rejected the rich businessman.
In 2008, 27-year-old Tai Lihua met her lover - Li Chun, a man who worked as an ordinary employee in a cultural company, at a public welfare event. They quickly fell in love and were married the following year.
Li Chun has a deep love for Tai Lihua. The two could not communicate normally because of Tai Lihua's hearing impairment, but their relationship was never affected. Li Chun can always accurately comprehend what she thinks and feels from the subtle changes in Tai Lihua's face.
In 2011, Tai Lihua gave birth to a pair of dragon and phoenix fetuses, a boy and a girl, who brought endless happiness to this ordinary couple. Li Chunhui will patiently tell the children the story of Tai Lihua when she was young, so that the children can learn Xi mother's spirit of not giving up.
Today, Tai Lihua is still insisting on her public welfare undertakings, and she and Li Chun are still in love. This ordinary and happy life is exactly what she really yearns for.
