Turning urban "green assets" into "ecological dividends" for citizens

In recent years, Xi'an has firmly established the development concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", focused on the people's demand for a better ecological environment, and followed the construction idea of "protection first, green development, people-oriented, and full of characteristics" to increase the amount of urban green and improve the quality of landscape. Since the beginning of this year, the Xi'an Municipal Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau has focused on improving the happiness index of the people, built a total of 185 kilometers of urban greenways, added 5.31 million square meters of urban green space, continuously enhanced the inclusiveness of parks and green spaces, truly turned the city's "green assets" into "ecological dividends" for the citizens, and gradually improved the people's sense of gain and happiness.

Intensify the construction of urban greenways and continuously expand the space for green sports

In the winter afternoon, "draped" with the warm sun came to Fengcheng South Road - Zaoyuan area, where the overall design of the new urban green landscape belt this year is positioned as a high-quality green space, and the design idea is taken from the Han Dynasty "curly grass pattern" pattern, creating a modern, advanced, smooth and interesting traffic route. In this landscape belt covering an area of 32,000 square meters, the plants are selected with white ash, red maple and other foliage and flowering trees suitable for the local climate, showing different scenery in the four seasons, enhancing the recognition of the cityscape and the comfort of the people's life.

Located at the northeast corner of the interchange between Fengcheng 5th Road and Zhuhong Road, the new green park covers an area of 16,000 square meters, cleverly using the current terrain height difference and forming a three-dimensional landscape space with ups and downs through micro-terrain combing. In the park, there are covered bridges, valleys, and boulevards, as well as children's entertainment spaces and activity spaces for the elderly. Combined with the leisure site, different varieties of native plants are planted to create a rich, colorful, and reasonable urban park landscape, providing citizens with a more convenient, comfortable and leisure urban green space.

Since the beginning of this year, the Xi'an Municipal Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau has focused on providing more leisure and sports space for the general public, combined with the urban slow traffic system and ecological space layout, vigorously carried out the construction of municipal, district and community-level greenways, connected various landscaping nodes and tourist places, formed a scientific series of urban communities and public space greenway network space, built a continuous and complete ecological infrastructure system, continuously improved the coverage of urban greenway service radius, improved the living experience of citizens, and provided convenience for the people to travel. As of the end of November, Xi'an has built a total of 185 kilometers of urban greenways, completing 185% of the annual task (100 kilometers), and it is expected that by the end of this year, the city's urban greenways will reach more than 1,800 kilometers.

Pilot parks and green spaces are open and shared, and the spatial layout of green spaces is continuously optimized

According to the requirements of the General Office of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development's "Notice on Carrying out the Pilot Work of Open and Shared Urban Parks and Green Spaces" (Jianban Chenghan [2023] No. 31), combined with the actual situation of Xi'an, the Xi'an Municipal Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau comprehensively sorted out the vacant land, lawn areas and understory spaces that can be used for recreational activities in urban parks and green spaces, formulated an open and shared plan, scientifically prepared a pilot implementation plan, standardized the open and shared area, opening hours, types of activities that can be carried out, and tourist carrying capacity, and improved facilities according to the specific plan. Measures to improve service functions, strengthen plant conservation management and tourist service guarantees. The first batch of 12 urban green spaces with a total of 1.15 million square meters will be opened as the first batch of pilots, including tent camping, parent-child activities, sports and fitness, leisure and recreation, etc.

Every weekend, the lawn of Duyi Ruins Park is full of camping citizens, they enjoy the joy of sunshine and picnics, and the children chasing on the lawn are as free and happy as kites in the sky. As an open park, the Weihe Urban Sports Park, a new Internet celebrity check-in place, has a wide field of vision, and the large open green space has become a treasure space for walking, picnics, camping, taking pictures, and walking babies. Located in the northeast of Xi'an, the Bahe River enters the Weikou Delta area, the Chanba National Wetland Park is divided into four exhibition plates: "wild, exquisite, fashionable, and river", from the west gate into the park, you can see a large forest on foot for 10 to 15 minutes, where people set up tents, fly kites, jog, and there are playgrounds, restaurants and other facilities in the park. Fenghe Ecological Park is the first large-scale free waterfront scenic spot in the western suburbs of Xi'an, with fences along the riverbank and intertwined plant spaces, wetland spaces and pedestrian trail spaces......

As of the end of November, the city has added 5.31 million square meters of urban green space, 106% of the annual task (5 million square meters), renovated and upgraded 1.17 million square meters of green space, completed 117% of the annual task (1 million square meters), planted 251,000 trees, completed 125% of the annual task (200,000 trees); All tasks have been completed ahead of schedule. In the next step, we will continue to optimize the layout of urban parks and green spaces, focus on the needs of the elderly, children and special groups, reasonably build terrain, garden roads and facilities, create an all-weather and all-age garden environment, enhance the inclusiveness of parks and green spaces, and gradually improve the sense of gain and happiness of the people.
