The year 2022 has quietly come to an end in an extraordinary way, and it is also the 7th year after the implementation of the "Administrative Measures for the Registration and Filing of Health Foods" and other relevant laws and regulations for the registration and approval of health foods. According to the summary statistics of the registration and approval of health foods, in 2022, a total of 341 new products have been approved to obtain registration certificates, and the certificate numbers are Guoshijian Note G20220001 0054, G20220060~0245, G20220251~0351.
Now the approval and registration of new products for health food in 2022 will be sorted out and summarized and a summary report will be formed:
1. Comparison of new product approval registration certificates in the past 5 years
After checking the registration certificates of new products of health food in the past five years, there are 1,827 certificates, the most in 2020, with 663 certificates, followed by 2019 with 544 certificates, followed by 2022 and 2021 with 341 and 269 certificates respectively, and at least in 2018, with only 10 certificates.
In 2022, there were 341 cases, an increase of 26.8% year-on-year from 269 in 2021, and a decrease of 37.3% in 2022 compared to 544 in 2019 before the pandemic. The specific certification is shown in Figure 1.
2. Analysis and summary of health care functions
In 2022, the new product registration certificate has been approved, and the health care functions of the product include enhancing immunity, relieving physical fatigue, and assisting in lowering blood lipids. Among the 341 products, 18 of them are dual-functional, 200 are health-care functions to enhance immunity, accounting for the highest proportion of 55.71%, followed by 46, 34, 22 and 20 respectively, respectively, which are auxiliary blood lipid reduction, physical fatigue relief, antioxidant and sleep improvement, respectively, these 5 health care functions account for 90%, and the specific number of health care functions is shown in Table 1 and Figure 2.
There are a total of 18 dual-functional products, and one of the dual-functional products is to enhance immunity. Among them, there are 9 dual functions of enhancing immunity and relieving physical fatigue, as shown in Figure 3 and Table 2 for details.
Third, the dosage form
The choice of dosage form of health food needs to be based on the composition of the formula, the method of eating, the suitable population, etc., the necessity and rationality of the physical and chemical properties and biological characteristics of the raw and auxiliary materials, and the selection of appropriate dosage forms through the study of production process. In 2022, the largest number of new dosage forms were capsules, with 175, accounting for 51.3%, followed by tablets, with 65, accounting for 19.1%, as shown in Figures 4 and 5.
4. Geographical distribution of registrants
In 2022, the address of the registrant is the most in Beijing, with 24, followed by Shandong, with 13, followed by Jiangsu and Sichuan, with 9 respectively, and the detailed distribution of the number of certificates obtained in each region is shown in Figure 6.
Of these registrants, three Authorities were declared as dual units, details of which are shown in Table 3.
5. Concluding remarks
In 2022, 341 health food registration certificates were approved, accounting for about 2% of the approved registration certificates with specific health functions. These new products cannot represent all health functions and product dosage forms of health foods, but they can also be known in small quantities, and we hope to provide help and reference for the majority of registrants and consumers. In recent years, the old health function method has been abolished, and the new health care function inspection and evaluation method has not been implemented, which also restricts the registration and declaration of health food. However, in the past five years, more than 1,800 new products have obtained certificates, accounting for about 10% of the total registration certificates, which is also a great progress in the registration and review and approval of health foods.
In 2023, all walks of life hope to improve and improve, the food industry as the focus of people's livelihood, health food as a special food, it is expected that the health function inspection and evaluation methods of health food can be released and implemented as soon as possible, so as to facilitate the registration and declaration of new products of enterprises.
