In 1950, the Central Committee decided to send volunteers to fight in North Korea, and after Mao Anying learned the news, he volunteered to participate.
It was Liu Siqi who was hospitalized because of appendicitis, and her mother had always been by her side to take care of her, but Mao Anying visited his wife the night before he went to North Korea.
Liu Siqi didn't notice that something was wrong, nodded and agreed, they had already made an agreement, due to the particularity of the work, there are often confidentiality requirements, don't ask if you shouldn't ask, no one knows that this meeting is their last meeting.
Forever family
On November 25, 1950, Mao Anying died heroically on the battlefield, and after learning the news of his son's sacrifice, Chairman Mao was a lot haggard and smoked a lot, but he still said: "There are always sacrifices in war", it is hard to imagine what kind of mood Chairman Mao said such words.
Chairman Mao considered that Liu Siqi had only been married for less than a year, so how should he face the pain of losing his husband?
At first, Liu Siqi could bear to be separated from her husband, but she didn't receive her husband's message for a long time, which made her restless, and she didn't know that her husband had gone to North Korea until she saw the photo of Mao Anying's volunteer uniform.

In 1961, Chairman Mao looked at his daughter-in-law who was getting thinner, so he urged him to remarry, but she couldn't let go of Mao Anying in her heart and didn't agree, and said at the beginning: "I haven't swept Anying's grave yet, how can I consider remarrying?"
Chairman Mao arranged for her and her sister Shao Hua to go to North Korea to sweep Mao Anying's grave, until she saw her husband's tombstone before accepting the fact that her husband left, and after returning to China, in order not to let Chairman Mao worry, he married Yang Maocai.
After the two got married, they gave birth to four children, and in honor of Mao Anying, she named her eldest son "Xiaoying", but she always felt regretful that she failed to give birth to Mao Anyingsheng, until Mao Xinyu appeared, and she saw Mao Anying's shadow from Mao Xinyu's body.
Mao Xinyu is the child of her sister Shao Hua and Mao Anying's younger brother Mao Anqing, and she loves Mao Xinyu very much because of this relationship.
In 2020, Liu Siqi felt that her time was running out, and she took her children to North Korea again to sweep Mao Anying's grave, she said: "In the future, the children will sweep your grave, they are all your relatives." ”
Two years later, Liu Siqi died, Li Ne and Li Min were too old to support their health, so they could only let their children and grandchildren go to mourn, and the wreath sent by the two was placed in the middle of the mourning hall.
