On December 10, 2023, the first "Tianmu Mountain Cup" Xinchang Tianmu Mountain Bicycle Climbing Race was held in the Tianmu Mountain Scenic Area of Xinchang County, Shaoxing City, and more than 500 riders from all over the country marched along the winding mountain road towards the "Tianji Terrace" and "Jinyintai" in Li Baishi's poem.
The competition has four groups: men's elite group, men's master group, women's group, and riding experience group, and the race route starts from the Tianmu Mountain Scenic Area Visitor Center, and the climbing track is 9.5 kilometers. After fierce competition, Gao Liang from Wenzhou Longgang Leading Cycling Club won the championship of the men's elite group, Hu Tiantian from Fengguo Lawyer Team won the second place, and Li You from Ningbo Zeray Dream Team won the third place. The champion of the master category was Jin Yulin of Shanghai Sprocket Cycling, and the second and third runners-up were Cheng Tan and Wang Jiadong of Giant-Shanghai Extreme Speed Ruifeng Racing Team. The champion of the women's group was Shen Danmei from Jiaxing Little Sun Racing Team, the runner-up was Guangdong rider Zhang Manxiu from the Meiqi Mcycle Women's Team, and the third place was Xie Cuifeng from Lingrui Pharmaceutical Women's Power Team.
The food supply link of this cycling race was widely commented by the riders, and the intimate organizing committee arranged rich supplies in the middle of the course and at the finish line, and many special food and Xinchang agricultural specialty stalls were also set up at the main venue. Each rider receives a voucher at the time of registration to ensure that the rider can "walk around" after he has eaten enough.
"Lonely and steep, the sky is clear", Tianmu Mountain is a famous historical and cultural mountain in China. Since the opening of the Eastern Jin Dynasty Xie Lingyun, a large number of monks and celebrities, literati and writers wandered here and chanted, Li Bai, Du Fu, Meng Haoran, Liu Changqing, Bai Juyi, Yuan Zhi and other more than 400 poets have left footprints, especially the poem "Sleepwalking in the Sky and Leaving Farewell", giving the cultural connotation of poetry and spiritual exploration of Tianmu Mountain. Therefore, there is a saying that "a Tianmu Mountain, half of the whole Tang Dynasty poems".
Over the years, Xinchang County has actively built the essence of the "Tang Poetry Road in Eastern Zhejiang", highlighting the landscape as the foundation, culture as the soul, and poetry as the medium, accurately developing Tianmu Mountain, and confirming the poetry with real scenes.
Liang Shu, director of Tianmu Mountain Cultural Tourism Development Center in Xinchang County, said in an interview with reporters after the race that cycling events are a healthy and trendy form of activities, and it is also a good model for the combination of agriculture, commerce, culture, tourism and sports.
