Introduction to Xishuangbanna Wild Elephant Valley
Xishuangbanna Wild Elephant Valley is located in Mengyangzi Reserve, Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve, which is a "UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve", 22 kilometers away from Jinghong City. A national park with the theme of animal protection and environmental protection.
The scenic area is surrounded by ravines, rivers, dense forests, and tropical rainforest scenery. Protected animals such as Asian wild elephants, bison, green peacocks, and macaques inhabit here. Since the scenic area is located at the junction of the east and west areas of the nature reserve, it naturally becomes a passage for various animals. Wild elephants are frequent and are one of the few places in Xishuangbanna where wild elephants can be seen.
Since 1990, this forest park has been centered around here, with wild elephants and tropical rainforests as its main content. Since its opening to the public in 1996, it has successively built facilities such as a viewing gallery, a tree hotel, a ropeway, a trail, an artificial butterfly breeding garden, and a cage bird garden. It is a leader in Xishuangbanna tourist attractions. Wild Elephant Valley is home to the mainland's first elephant training school, where visitors can watch elephant shows. In addition, there are about 50 groups of wild elephants with about 300-350 individuals. On average, every 4.4 days, a herd of wild elephants appears, walks, bathes, and plays. Visitors can also observe the presence of elephants at night through infrared night vision goggles. The best time to see wild elephants is in the evening, at night, and early in the morning.
To see wild Asian elephants in China, you must go to Xishuangbanna, and to see wild elephants in Xishuangbanna, you must go to Wild Elephant Valley. From rapids to still water, from dirt to the surface, from meadows to shrubs, from understory to canopy, all animals live here, and this land is their home.
