author:Reading under the lights

Wang Ji, the first figure mentioned in many treatises on poetry when talking about the poetry of the early Tang Dynasty, is recognized as the founder of the five-word law poetry and the pioneer of the Tang Dynasty landscape idyll.

In addition to his achievements in poetry, Wang Ji is best known for his love of wine. How far does love go? Two of his three career paths were related to alcohol. In his poems, there is a sense of wine everywhere: "But let a thousand days drunk, why pity two or three springs", "It is better to sit on a high pillow, when drunk to dispel sorrows", "Constant smell and drink insufficient, how to see that there is a residual pot"...

Drinking

Throughout his life, Wang Ji had multiple identities: he was both a poet and a hermit; he was both a drunkard and a viron. This last identity is often overlooked.

Poet Wang Ji: The founder of the Five-Word Poetry and the pioneer of the Landscape Pastoral

In the Biography of Tang Caizi, Wang Ji is the first poet to be listed; when it comes to the poets of the early Tang Dynasty, he is also the first person to be mentioned. In the Quan Tang Poems, there are 42 of his poems.

Wang Jizi "no merit", he said that he "has the tao to himself, no merit in the time", in his own cultivation has gained, but for the times is useless. But as a poet, Wang Ji is undoubtedly meritorious.

The law was indiscriminately coveted in the Six Dynasties, and formed in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and the lack of merit was actually the precursor.

In the development of the five-word poem, Wang Ji is the "first sound". The most mentioned "Wild Hope" in later generations is a complete five-word poem.

The trees are all autumn colors

ambition

Donggao looked at the twilight and leaned on what he wanted.

The trees are all autumn colors, and the mountains are only falling.

Shepherds drive calves back, and hunting horses bring birds back.

Looking at each other without acquaintance, long song Huai Tse-wei.

"Wild Hope" has an intrinsic reflection of the emotional subject of the poem, the poet's state of mind is lonely and depressed, so the scenery in his eyes is "the trees are autumn colors, the mountains and mountains are only falling", and the people he meets on the way are also no one can recognize his inner pain, and can only miss the song of Cewei of Boyi Shuqi in that year, and chant a long song...

The middle two pairs of poems are neatly aligned, and the flat servants also meet the requirements of the rhythmic poems, and also have the association of feelings. Therefore, this poem has an important position in the development of the five-word poem, and it is also an early landscape idyll that marks the style of Tang poetry.

In this poem, Wang Ji's poetic style is clearly reflected: the scene is fresh and distant, the language is simple, and the lyricism is also very simple.

Only the afterglow

Zhengyi Qing Dynasty Weng Fanggang's evaluation of him in the "Poetry of Shizhou":

With the style of truthfulness and shallowness, entering the homes of the early Tang Dynasty, such as the kites flying in flocks, and suddenly encountering wild deer, it is a rare thing.

Hermit King's Achievements: Spring brew fried pine leaves, autumn cup soaked chrysanthemums, but there are worries

Wang Ji was a hermit in the late Sui and early Tang dynasties, and the New Book of Tang listed the "Hidden Biography". He often compared himself to Tao Yuanming, "taste Tao Yuanming, drink and burn the dead fish", three shi three hidden, to hide the end.

Tao Yuanming, the Hermit Sect, is wang ji's "idol".

Tao Yuanming has "The Biography of Mr. Wuliu", and Wang Ji wrote "The Biography of Mr. Wudou"; Tao Yuanming wrote "The Tale of The Peach Blossom Origin", shaping the literati spirit of the Peach Blossom Origin, whether wei or Jin, do not know that there is a Han; Wang Ji also wrote "The Tale of Drunken Township", and the people who live in the drunken township do not love and hate joy and anger, suck wind and drink dew, and do not eat five grains.

However, Tao Yuanming's seclusion needed to cultivate the fields and acres by himself, and Wang Ji did not seem to use it, and it seemed that "there were several slaves and slaves, planting millets, brewing wine in spring and autumn, raising geese, and providing for themselves with herbs", and there were domestic servants who planted millet, herbs, and winemaking, and he was responsible for swimming in the countryside, drinking and composing poetry.

winemaking

The poem "Autumn Night Happy to Meet the King and the Virgin" can best show its hidden ambitions, and the poem writes about the leisure and joy of being in the countryside, fresh and elegant.

Autumn night is a happy encounter with the king virgin

The north field is gone, and the east is returned.

When the autumn moon is full, it is more worth the night of the fireflies.

Wang Ji writes about pastoral seclusion, showing a kind of leisure interest. But his seclusion did not come as pure and free as Tao Yuanming, he cultivated the field acres, although there was a pleasant feeling of "returning to the south acres, and sitting on the head of the North Creek", but there were also his inner worries, so he finally wrote in the "Late Years of Narration of the Zhai Virgins": "I have a home and a happy life, who knows the worries of the world." ”

In the six poems of "Ancient Meaning", the poet expresses his worries through the worries of individual lives such as bamboo, pine, and gui; in the "Stone Bamboo Song", he also laments that "he is often afraid of zero frost and cannot live his whole life".

In his poems, he shows that he wants to live a life of "koike talking about raising cranes, idle fields and herding pigs", but he has a reluctance in his heart. And this is not a contradiction between him alone, but also a contradiction that the ancient literati are struggling with - "Shi" and "Cain".

Laid-back idyllic

Alcoholic Wang Ji: Come and go freely, move and move naturally, wandering freely in the drunken township

Wang Ji loves wine, and wine runs through his life. There are a few points that can be used as examples.

First, Wang Ji has been out of service three times, and two times they are related to wine.

When he first came out of the Sui Dynasty, he was awarded the title of secretary of the orthography and proofread the classics; the second time he was discharged, Wang Ji was appointed as a former official to be sent to the province.

According to the custom under the door, three liters of good wine will be given every day. His younger brother Wang Jing asked him how well this official was doing. He replied that the salary was low and lonely, and only three liters of good wine were worth nostalgia. When his superiors heard about it, they raised the wine from three liters to one bucket.

This led to the title of "Bachelor of Fighting Wine". But in fact, Yidoujiu is still very aggrieved by Wang Ji, after all, he said that he could drink five buckets, "often drink five buckets", and called himself "Mr. Five Buckets".

wine

The third time he went out, it was Wang Ji who heard that Jiao Ge of the Taile Department was good at brewing wine, so he asked for The Tale. This time, it was not until after the death of Jiao Ge and his wife that Wang Ji resigned.

Congshi is a great way for readers to realize their ideal ambitions, and here in Wang Ji, wine has played such a big role, and there is no doubt that he loves wine.

Second, of the 42 poems contained in the Quan Tang Poems, more than two-thirds of the poems are related to wine.

Whether drinking alone or against friends, he treats drinking as a lifelong wish. Compared with some poets who use wine as a sustenance to escape from the world, Wang Ji naturally has this layer of factors in it, but he also truly loves wine from the bottom of his heart.

He said, "The year is just coming, full of urn camp spring wine", the spring light is just right, hurry up to brew the spring bar; he said "last night the bottle began to end, this morning the urn is opened", last night only finished drinking, this morning began a new round; "bamboo leaves are even green, pu tao with curved red", the wine in his eyes, how lovely, and seeing the wine, how happy he is from the heart.

But like many literati, wine was also a kind of spiritual sustenance for him. Because I don't want everyone to be drunk and I wake up alone, so "A hundred years of how to send, multiply and long songs"; because I don't want to be too much bound, let the mind come and go freely, "Li Le prisoner Ji Dan, poetry bound Kong Qiu." It is better to sit on a high pillow and get drunk and dispel sorrow."

In the "Biography of Mr. Wudou", he wrote that "suddenly it goes away, and it comes suddenly, and its movement is also heavenly, and its stillness is also earth, so all things cannot be haunted."

Come and go freely, move and move naturally, in the wine country, nothing can hold his heart, can wander freely.

Qinren Wang Ji: Holding the piano dance vertically and horizontally, hating the ignorant music reward

Poets, drunkards, and hermits are all identities that Wang Ji is easily seen, and "qinren" is easily overlooked.

In fact, the brothers Wang Ji and Wang Tong are both literati and violinists, and there is a sentence in Wang Ji's introduction:

Yashan drums and pianos, adds and subtracts old lanes, and does landscape exercises, which are appreciated by those who know the sound.

In the trajectory of his life, we can see that his third appearance, the official position he sought was "Taile Cheng". This official position was the official who held the music, and was responsible for the ceremonial music affairs in the imperial court, specifically in the aspects of teaching musicians, harmonizing bell laws, and assessing musicians. Wang Wei's first official position was Thatre Cheng Tai.

A piece of guqin

It can be seen from this that Wang Ji is also accomplished in music.

The qin, on the other hand, is an important image in his poetry second only to wine. In his poems, the violin is often mentioned as equal to wine, with one bipartisan sentence saying wine and the other fiddling.

Piano accompanies the front yard moon, and the wine advises the garden to spring. ("Three Songs of the Tian Family", part 1)

The wind chirps quietly on the night piano, and the moon shines on the neighbors. (Narration of the Mountains)

Youlan solo night Qingqin song, laurel tree lingyun cloudy wine glass. ("North Mountain")

Cranes chirp the night, warblers cry wine urns spring. (stump sentence)

Why did he mention the piano so often? Because the qin, as the first of the "four arts", represents a gentleman with Confucian and elegant interests; the guqin is also a very important image in ancient Chinese culture.

Fuqin

Wang Ji paid tribute to the famous Wei and Jin warriors with a piano, Ji Kang had "five strings in his hand, and saw Gui Hong", and Wang Ji said that "to promote The bright moon, draw the strings to the white clouds".

The qin is also the sustenance of his ideals and interests, in one of the six songs of "Ancient Meaning", he regards himself as the ghostly Hengbaoqin, and the fuqin can play Guangling San, and can continue to play the Mingguang song.

Unfortunately, there is no bell period in the world, and no one knows the meaning of the piano. High and low, this has been true since ancient times.

The piano and wine are both extremely important sustenance in Wang Ji's life.

Wang Ji's loneliness is in wine; Wang Ji's loneliness is in the piano.
