During the Vietnamese counterattack, Xu Shiyou asked Bien Guixiang to release Vietnamese prisoners. Unexpectedly, he resolutely roared: "Strike officials, go to prison, whatever, prisoners will not let go!" "[Don't look]

In 1979, when the Sino-Vietnamese War broke out, Bien Guixiang, commander of the 163rd Division of our army, was ordered to go out and lead his troops deep into the hinterland of Vietnam. Bian Guixiang is a veteran who participated in the Anti-Japanese War and honed his tenacity on the battlefield. He was well aware of the treachery of the Vietnamese and had to keep a strict watch on the prisoners and not let them go easily.

After a fierce battle, our troops captured more than a thousand Vietnamese prisoners. By order of the command, these prisoners should be released. However, Bian Guixiang resolutely refused to implement it based on his painful past experience. General Xu Shiyou was furious and demanded that Bian Guixiang release him immediately. Bian Guixiang said: "Even if you want to remove me from my official position and kill my head, I will never let go of any Vietnamese devil!" ”

Xu Shiyou listened, did not force it again, and Bian Guixiang returned home with more than a thousand Vietnamese prisoners. In fact, Bian Guixiang's deep hatred of the Vietnamese is not groundless. As early as the Anti-Japanese War, he had seen the treachery of the Vietnamese.

During one mission, Bien Guixiang's detachment was ambushed in the jungle and captured five Vietnamese soldiers. These soldiers begged for mercy and wept, and a recruit in the team felt pity and begged Bian Guixiang to let them live.

Although Bian Guixiang could not bear to kill, he decided to tie them up first to prevent the Vietnamese from biting back. But they knew a lot about local trees and quickly broke free by exploiting the natural weakness of a juicy vine.

After discovering that the prisoner had fled, Bien Guixiang wanted to retrieve the Vietnamese prisoner, but the scene that immediately came into view made him completely angry that the recruit's body was found on the bank of the river. The recruits were covered with knife wounds and were gnawed by insects and snakes, and their deaths were extremely tragic. Bian Guixiang was furious and vowed to avenge the recruits. From then on, he understood that he could not be soft on Vietnamese prisoners.

Therefore, in this Sino-Vietnamese War, Bien Guixiang led the 163rd Division to make a big disturbance in the hinterland of Vietnam, annihilating more than 6,000 Vietnamese troops and avenging the blood revenge of more than 600 martyrs. But at the time of victory, the higher authorities gave the order to release more than a thousand Vietnamese prisoners. Bian Guixiang remembered the lessons of these bloodies around him and strongly demanded that the prisoners be brought home.

Sure enough, as Bien Guixiang expected, after the war, the Vietnamese government delayed for a long time in returning our prisoners. At this time, Bien Guixiang offered to exchange these more than 1,000 Vietnamese prisoners with our captured soldiers.

At first, they delayed the exchange of prisoners again and again, but after a wave of condemnation from the Vietnamese people and under the pressure of world public opinion, the Vietnamese government finally agreed to exchange prisoners.

And Bian Guixiang's hatred of the Vietnamese is also normal, no matter who has experienced what he has experienced, he will be like him, the Japanese army and the Vietnamese army colluded to launch a crazy attack on China. Bien Guixiang's unit was ordered to go deep into the jungles of Vietnam to deal with the Japanese and Vietnamese troops. The battle in the jungle is extremely hard, indistinguishable from friend and foe, insidious and cunning and cruel.

It can be seen from this incident that Bian Guixiang's insistence is correct. He was well aware of the cunning of the Vietnamese and the consequences of releasing prisoners. It was Bian Guixiang's foresight and persistence that enabled our army to safely exchange soldiers back and avenge the martyrs. This fully demonstrated the wisdom and courage of Bian Guixiang's veterans, and also became a good story in the Sino-Vietnamese War.
