Medical clothing is uniformly worn, washed and disinfected in specific medical places and reused for many times, and has different characteristics, safety and hygiene, durability, comfort and functionality from general textile and clothing products, and cannot directly adopt daily clothing standards. However, there are currently no relevant national standards to regulate its quality, and there are only 4 group standards of the China National Textile and Apparel Federation. From the standard level, it can only provide group standard supply, and the coverage is small, which cannot meet the society's demand for national standards for medical clothing. Due to the market nature of group standards, the production, procurement and quality supervision of medical clothing do not have the "hard constraint" of national standards, and the implementation and application of standards cannot achieve the expected results.
The production of medical clothing enterprises is not standard controllable; Procurement by medical institutions, no standards available; The competent department has no standards to follow for quality supervision.
Henan Fiber Textile Product Quality Monitoring and Inspection Institute led the formulation of the national standard of "Medical and Nursing Professional Clothing", investigated nearly 30 production enterprises and medical institutions, submitted an application to the National Standards Committee in October 2022, and passed the defense of the Technical Evaluation Center of the National Standards Committee in March 2023, and the draft national standard of "Medical and Nursing Professional Clothing" has been formed, which is expected to be released next year (2024).
