Former U.S. President Donald Trump has arrived in Georgia and turned himself in to Fulton prison, where he was formally arrested.
According to Bloomberg and Reuters, Trump arrived in Atlanta, Georgia's capital, on a private jet at 7:03 p.m. ET on Thursday and then went to Fulton Prison to turn himself in.
Trump is expected to be released on bail of $200,000 (S$270,000) and abide by a "gag" agreement that prohibits co-defendants, witnesses or victims in the case.
Previous reports said Judge Scott McAfee, who oversees the case, may subpoena Trump and 18 other defendants after Labor Day in the United States.
The trial date for co-defendant Kenneth Chesebro, Trump's former lawyer, has been set for Oct. 23.
According to records published on the Georgia Sheriff's website, another co-defendant, former White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, also turned himself in to Fulton County authorities on Thursday and was taken to prison.
A week ago, a Georgia grand jury charged Trump and 18 other defendants with trying to overturn the results of Georgia's 2020 presidential election and listed 41 counts, 13 of which were directed against Trump.
