Tang Xuanzong Li Longji was a controversial emperor in the history of the Tang Dynasty, who was diligent in political affairs in the early stages and created a situation of "Kaiyuan Prosperity", which made the Tang Dynasty's rule reach its peak; in the later period, he was hesitant to enjoy himself, which contributed to the "Tianbao Crisis" and triggered the "Anshi Rebellion", which led to the Tang Dynasty's transformation from prosperity to decline. After the outbreak of the "Anshi Rebellion", Emperor Xuanzong of Tang fled to Chengdu in a hurry, what would his fate be?

First, forced abdication
On the ninth day of June 756, Ge Shuhan was defeated, the rebels attacked Tongguan, and the news reached Chang'an, and the government and the public were shocked! Three days later, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang issued an edict to personally march, ordered the relevant personnel to prepare, and in the early morning of the next day, braving the light rain, he and thousands of people left Chang'an in a hurry. Due to the tight time and insufficient preparation, they had to ask the people for food on the way, which was very embarrassing. After arriving at Ma Songyi, there was a mutiny with the accompanying army!
After killing Yang Guozhong, the generals were still reluctant to disperse and surrounded the Pavilion where Tang Xuanzong lived. In desperation, Tang Xuanzong had no choice but to order Someone to hang Yang Guifei. The next day, when Tang Xuanzong was preparing to leave, the road was blocked by the people, and they asked to keep the crown prince Li Heng, and Tang Xuanzong agreed. After that, Tang Xuanzong moved south to Chengdu, while the crown prince Li Heng went north to Lingwu. On July 13, Li Heng had to admit the truth after Lingwu had claimed the title of emperor without authorization, that is, Emperor Suzong of Tang, and Li Longji, who was in Chengdu, received the news.
Second, be afraid and frightened
In October 757, the Tang army recaptured Chang'an, and Tang Suzong sent people to Chengdu to welcome Tang Xuanzong back to Beijing. In December of that year, Li Longji returned to Chang'an City, where he had been away for more than a year, and was greeted by hundreds of officials and people in the capital, and even burst into tears. Later, Emperor Suzong of Tang honored his father with the title of "Emperor Taishang to the Dao saint". Although Tang Xuanzong was forced to abdicate, he was still the Emperor Taishang and should enjoy the respect of the people of the world, but this was not the case, and Tang Xuanzong's old age was not peaceful.
Not long after, Tang Suzong's health problems occurred, and his close eunuch Li Fuguo believed that "all these are the conspiracies of the Nine Immortals, Gao Lishi, and Chen Xuanli", and also said that "there are different plots in Nannei." Therefore, under the manipulation of Li Fuguo, Tang Xuanzong was moved from Nannei to Xi Nei, and the number of attendants around him was reduced to more than thirty people. On the way to move, Tang Xuanzong encountered an elite army led by Li Fuguo, "Saving blades and day". Tang Xuanzong was stunned, "If you want to fall off the horse and count four, Lai will support him left and right."
Third, the end of depression
Fortunately, at this time, Gao Lishi stepped forward, and he leapt forward on his horse and scolded loudly: "Fifty years of Taiping Tianzi, Li Fuguo Ru old minister, it is not appropriate to be rude, Li Fuguo dismounted!" Under the accusations of Gao Lishi, Li Fuguo relented, "traveling to gather horses, and escorting the emperor with soldiers and other guards, and safely arrived in Xi Nei." After Li Fuguo left, Tang Xuanzong took Gao Lishi's hand and cried, "General Wei, Ah Qi (Tang Xuanzong's nickname) has died for the soldiers. ”
However, Li Fuguo did not forget this matter, and he quickly retaliated. Gao Lishi was exiled to Qianzhong Province, Chen Xuanli was forced to retire, and even Tang Xuanzong's sister Princess Yuzhen was suppressed and could no longer see Tang Xuanzong. Since then, Tang Xuanzong has been depressed, and after experiencing countless political struggles, he was actually put under house arrest by his own son. In 762, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang ended his extraordinary life and died of illness in the Divine Dragon Hall at the age of seventy-eight.
