During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, there was a famous musician named Li Guinian in the Tang Dynasty, and many dignitaries in the capital invited him to perform at home, and Du Fu once wrote a poem to record his scenery at that time. According to Shen Kuo's records, Tang Xuanzong once discussed the playing method of the karma drum with this Li Guinian many times, and told Li Guinian that the karma drum he broke in the practice could be enough to fill four large cabinets.

Tang Xuanzong would often personally sit in the teaching workshop and guide the disciples to play, and when the three hundred disciples on the scene played together, Tang Xuanzong would listen very carefully, and no matter who made a small mistake, he could hear it immediately and give corrective guidance on the spot. Such a sensitive sense of music, even now, I am afraid that not many people can do it.

Another theory is that Tang Xuanzong dreamed of the Moon Palace Immortals in his sleep, and when he woke up, he suddenly came up with inspiration and created this song "Neon Dress Feather Dance".
