Mak Liang, member of the leading party group and deputy director of the Guangdong Sports Bureau, Cheng Qingyun, Acting Sports Commissioner of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and more than 600 athletes from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area attended the event. Sheung Shui Wai, the venue of the event, is located in Sheung Shui Township, New Territories, Hong Kong, and was built in 1646. Sheung Shuiwei is the core of the Liao family, whose distant ancestors moved south from Fujian during the Yuan Dynasty and established their home here. Built in 1751, Liao Man Stone Hall in the township is one of the best-preserved and largest Hakka ancestral halls, with exquisite construction and displays a large number of precious cultural relics, and was declared a monument in 1985. Fanling Golf Course is known as one of the most challenging courses in Hong Kong, with a beautiful environment and complete facilities.
The race is divided into two days, the first day is the children's group, professional group, senior group double relay race, the next day is the children's group, professional group, adult group, experience group sprint event competition.

The Nanyue Ancient Road Orienteering Competition has been held for 8 consecutive years, and every year the event has attracted many Hong Kong and Macao athletes to participate, and this event is the first time that Guangdong and Hong Kong jointly hosted and ran into Hong Kong, opening the "circle of friends" of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao brand events, and realizing the "family family" of the three places.
In fact, sports exchanges and co-operation between Hong Kong, Macao and the Mainland have a long history. For example, the "Province-Hong Kong Cup" football tournament held since 1979; In 2010, with the support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the equestrian competition of the Guangzhou Asian Games was successfully held in Conghua; In 2025, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao will also jointly host the 15th National Games, which will be a grand event for sports exchanges and cooperation among the three places, and an important opportunity to promote urban development and cultural exchanges among the three places.

Originating from the Qin and Han dynasties, the Tang and Song dynasties, and flourishing in the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Nanyue Ancient Yidao was a passage used in ancient Lingnan to transmit documents, transport materials, and communicate with people, including water and land routes, official roads and folk ancient roads. It is an important channel for economic exchange and cultural dissemination, as well as an important eco-historical infrastructure. Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao have the same roots, and the Nanyue Ancient Road is an important transportation system connecting the three places in history. In recent years, in the revitalization and utilization of the ancient post road in southern Guangdong, sections of the common red historical memory of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao have been excavated and sunk out.
During the Anti-Japanese War period, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong Provincial College of Arts and Sciences, Peizheng Middle School and other secondary and higher education institutions in South China moved inland to run schools in northern Guangdong, and a large number of Hong Kong and Macao students returned to the mainland for refuge after hardships and dangers. The "flame" of education has been preserved in northern Guangdong, which not only continues the cultural context of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, but also becomes an important link for cultural exchanges in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area today.

Ari, a professional volunteer of Guangdong's "Three Divisions", pointed out that the transfer routes mainly include water and land, and there is also a sea communication line in western Guangdong. Nanyue Ancient Road is the main trunk of this rescue and transfer. Rescued cultural celebrities and democrats were "smuggled" from Hong Kong to Macao in a dinghy with a sail, and then transferred from Coloane in Macao to land at Taishan Duhu in Jiangmen. The operation lasted more than half a year, and more than 800 people were rescued, none of whom were intercepted by the enemy, and none of them were killed or wounded. This move won praise from all walks of life at home and abroad, and was considered to be "the greatest 'rescue' work since the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression."
Co-construction, co-governance and shared volunteer action to activate and utilize the Nanyue Ancient Road
During the competition, the organizers presented books such as "Special Writer Album of Nanyue Ancient Yidao Network" and "Wind and Rain Course: Review of the Technical Guidance of Nanyue Ancient Yidao" and "Audiovisual Archives of China's Nanyue Ancient Yidao Cultural Journey" to the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, the Hong Kong Orienteering Association and the Hong Kong Sheung Shui Rural Affairs Committee.
Since 2016, Guangdong has taken the lead in carrying out the protection and utilization of the Nanyue Ancient Road in the country, putting the rescue, restoration and protection of the Nanyue Ancient Road in the first place, adhering to the principle of "Daoxing Village" and "Ancient for Modern Use", and implementing the four-in-one concept of "protecting and restoring historical relics", "improving the rural living environment", "promoting rural revitalization" and "enhancing cultural self-confidence".

It is understood that professional volunteers of Guangdong's "Three Divisions" have visited Hong Kong many times to learn the experience of the MacLehose Trail in Hong Kong's mountaineering and hiking trail in terms of signage guidance, adaptation to local conditions, natural harmony, safety system and other trail construction; Professional volunteers of the "Three Divisions" from Hong Kong and Macao went to Guangdong to carry out full-cycle technical services and work guidance for the Nanyue Ancient Road, and deeply participated in the important stages of discovery, excavation and restoration to activation, operation and maintenance of the Nanyue Ancient Road.
