Profitable trades! Did the Lakers take down the former top five-star high school student with a base-salary contract?

After the start of NBA free agency this summer, the Los Angeles Lakers moved quickly, agreeing with Cam Reddish, who previously played for the Portland Trail Blazers, to sign a two-year, $4.63 million base-salary contract, with the second year of the contract being a player option.

Before this year's trade deadline, the Blazers reached a deal with the New York Knicks, who sent Reddish and a first-round pick to trade Josh Hart from the Blazers. After coming to the Blazers, Reddish has actually performed quite well, playing a total of 20 games for the team, averaging 27.6 minutes per game, averaging 11 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.3 blocks per game, shooting 44.3% from the field, 31.8% from three-point range and 83.3% from the free-throw line.

In fact, Reddish's performance after coming to the Blazers is still worthy of recognition. Although his three-point shooting is not consistent, the top five-star high school student, who used to rank No. 2 in the United States, even surpassed Zion Williamson, has shown some self-scoring ability, and he also has a certain degree of contribution on the defensive end. Maybe it's not particularly good, but at least it's showing a lot of progress and gradually realizing his talent.

For the Lakers, it is not a loss to be able to sign a full-sized 3D player with excellent physical talent and athleticism and still have the opportunity to cash in on talent with a base-salary contract. For Reddish, given Troy Brown Jr.'s playing time and tactical position in last season's regular season, Reddish should also get a more consistent chance to play, which is also a chance for him to re-prove himself.
