On the 29th local time, Kazakh President Tokayev held talks with visiting Luxembourg Foreign Minister Arthurborn.

According to the official website of the Kazakh Presidential Office, the two sides discussed the cooperation intentions of the two countries in the fields of logistics and transportation, digitalization and green energy, and exchanged views on international and regional hot issues.

Earlier in the day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nurtrewu held talks with Arthurborn.

According to the website of the Kazakh Prime Minister's Office, the visit coincides with the 31st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg, and this visit is of special significance.

During the talks, the two sides discussed the ties between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy and trade, humanities and education. According to relevant statistics, the trade volume between the two countries increased by 2.5 times in 2022, and the trade volume has increased by 4.5 times in the first four months of this year.

Nurtrewu pointed out that developing friendly relations with Luxembourg is a priority direction of Kazakhstan's foreign policy towards Europe. He pointed out that the HALU partnership is based on friendship and mutual trust, and the two countries have similar positions on regional and international issues. "Kazakhstan will work closely with Luxembourg to deepen dialogue with the EU and take relations between the two countries to a new level."

During the visit, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of aviation and exploration of the use of outer space for peaceful purposes. According to the memorandum, flights between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg will reach 21 per week.

In addition, according to Kazakh Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Karabayev, Luxembourg became the third European country to conclude a framework agreement "Open Skies" with Kazakhstan, after France and Finland.

On the same day, after holding talks between Murat Nuterrewu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, and Jean Asselborn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the two countries said that the two countries have great potential for further strengthening cooperation in peaceful research and the use of transportation and space.

The Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan pointed out that the further development of economic and trade cooperation is an effective driving force for the development of bilateral relations.

"Therefore, we attach particular importance to this issue. In 2022, trade between the two countries increased 2.5 times, while the volume of trade in the first 4 months of this year increased 4.5 times. As noted in the talks, this is not the pinnacle of available potential. So we agreed to find new opportunities together. Specifically, we will organize a visit to Kazakhstan by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, during which we will discuss areas of common interest. Kazakhstan is willing to create convenient conditions for Luxembourg enterprises to enter the Kazakh market and jointly promote finished products to foreign markets. He said.

Nurtrewu also pointed out that the launch of Eurasian flights by Cargolux, one of Europe's largest cargo airlines, at Astana International Airport is the result of joint efforts and an event that inspires confidence in the future.

"In this way, we once again clearly see the potential of Kazakhstan as a bridge connecting the East and the West. In addition, Kazakhstan and Luxembourg have great potential for enhanced cooperation in the peaceful research and use of transport and outer space.
