Originally, the "Immortal Living Law" was originally the "Biography of the Noble Master of Huayang Jiao shangren", which was originally a song recipe, and then passed down to the world because of the book post written by Yang Ningshi in the fifth dynasty of the Later Tang Dynasty.
And this Yang Ningshi is also a strange person. He went through the Tang, Later Liang, Later Tang, Later Jin, Later Han, and Later Zhou dynasties, and every time he encountered a change of dynasty, or a big trick, he pretended to be crazy and stupid. Huang Tingjian once commented on Yang Ning's style, "Condensing style is like scattering monks into holiness." This is also in line with the provenance of Shaolin's "Yi Jian Jing", and it is more in line with the temperament of his book "Immortal Living Law".

Yang Ning's style of calligraphy is not bound by many rules and laws, but the essence of his book is still in the foundation of calligraphy. Therefore, the "Immortal Living Law" shows the meaning of indulgence and cheerfulness, and the meaning of the wandering skeleton.
Yang Shoujing said in the "Xueshu Shu Yan Commentary" that the "Immortal Living Law" was born from Huaisu calligraphy. However, it is not possible to determine which specific work of Huai Su's calligraphy is attributed to.
Compared with the "Self-Narration", the "Immortal Living Law" does not reach its extreme of wild and extravagant writing, but appears quiet and elegant.
Compared with the "Xiaocao Thousand Character Text", the "Immortal Living Law" is not as simple as this book. It hovers between this arrogance and tranquility.
And the brushwork is also based on Lu Ji's "Ping Fu Ti", twisting and simple. Therefore, although the "Immortal Living Law" shows a stirring and wanton attitude in appearance, it does not lose its elegant and handsome atmosphere.
In terms of spatial arrangement, it shows a strong rhythm.
The first four lines are written in a relatively calm and compact manner. Except for the words "place, rib" and the two "mo" characters, which are more exaggerated in the longitudinal posture of the knot body, the other words are written more symmetrically and calmly, following the rules.
The fifth and sixth lines not only have a relatively wide structure in a single word, but also pay attention to changes in the writing form, but also the spacing, line spacing and line qi are also wide and handsome, and the writing begins to be relaxed.
The last two lines are more and more strange and changeable in writing. The size, length, and density of the words change dramatically. And on the whole, the last two lines of words are undulating and staggered, like the old trees and dead vines.
In this small work, the writing goes from slow into urgency and then into infatuation, from the first few lines of the line flowing, to the transition jump in the middle, and then to the unrestrained wildness of the last two lines of writing, in this quiet and quiet to complete such a complicated and exciting transformation.
"Immortal Living Law" is unbridled and staggered, its tone is like the free and extremely long tone in music, the tone jumps and twists, the more you follow the pen path, the more you feel that it summarizes everything in the technique, is a model of willfulness, written indulgently and romantically.
Therefore, rather than saying that Yang Ningshi opened the Song people's Shang "Yi" style of writing, it is better to say that Yang Ningshi set an example for the Song people with its rich book atmosphere, and under him, Su, Huang, Mi and other calligraphers pushed the Shang "Yi" style of writing to the extreme.
