The sound of firecrackers and drums on this side of the mountain village seems to be still lingering in the ears, and the discussion in the city has already sounded.
The leader of the new cultural movement actually married a plain-looking village lady with small feet, which became the focus of the news for a while, and people shook their heads one after another, feeling sorry for Hu Shi.
Hu Shi said, "Nonsense, there is nothing in my life that is more advantageous than this, what is the great sacrifice?" ”
To commemorate his new marriage, Hu Shi wrote a vernacular poem to commemorate the occasion, in which he wrote:
"Thirteen years have not seen each other,
At the end of this day, put a pile of sad old things,

The "Seven Year Itch" is in crisis
After the marriage, Jiang Dongxiu continued to stay in his hometown to accompany and take care of his mother-in-law, and Hu Shi returned to Peking University for his life.

When the wind blew in Beijing, Hu Shi returned to his home in beijing.
Since Mother Hu had passed away, Hu Shi no longer had to perform filial piety, he gritted his teeth and made up his mind to file for divorce. Although Dong Xiu had heard a little about Hu Shi's ambiguous relationship with his cousin, he did not think that they really wanted to destroy his home.

Jiang Dongxiu is well aware of her husband's temperament, he is kind and soft-hearted, and he is a decent person who cares about face. Offense is the best defense, and on the issue of principle, she can only stabilize him if she is tough.
Therefore, Jiang Dongxiu turned and ran to the kitchen, grabbed the kitchen knife, dragged his son, and put down the harsh words: "If you want a divorce, I will kill my two sons first." I don't want the son I have with you!" I'm committing suicide again! ”
Jiang Dongxiu's resolute attitude was beyond Hu Shi's imagination, and he never thought that Jiang Dongxiu, who had always been gentle, would have such momentum.
Hu Shi did not dare to mention divorce again, and returned to his family.
Cao Chengying had an abortion, studied abroad, and became the first female professor of agriculture in China after returning to China.
Sanmao said: "It is difficult to have eternal love in the world, there is absolutely eternal and immortal affection in the world, once love is dissolved into family affection, that foundation is not built on the sand." ”
Zealous and righteous, good name spread

After Peking University professor Liang Zongdai became famous, he fell in love with the female writer Shen Ying, and in order to get a smooth divorce, he even sued his wife in court. Liang's wife was loyal and cowardly, and she was powerless to resist, so she could only be sad in her stomach and wash her face with tears every day.
After Jiang Dongxiu heard about it, he stepped forward and hugged her unevenly. She took her wife to her home to comfort and appease her.
In court, Jiang Dongxiu personally defended Liang's wife, she held her head high, faced the judge without humility, and talked endlessly for half an hour, and the final result was that Liang's wife won the case and Liang Zongdai lost the case.
Jiang Dongxiu, who is illiterate, a professor at Peking University, also won a lawsuit, which made Jiang Dongxiu a hit and became a popular person in the major media, and people gave her a thumbs up.
She was praised not only by people who were close to the capital, but also by villagers who were far away from home.
In 1941, Jiang Dongxiu returned to his mother's home, Jiang village, to visit relatives. She found that there was a section of the ancient road from Shangzhuang to Jiangcun, which had been beaten by wind and rain for a long time, and the road was potholed, the road was very difficult to walk, and no one had repaired it for many years.
So she spontaneously donated money to repair three roads near Yangtaoling, and specially asked the overseer to inspect and accept it.
The villagers have been grateful for a long time and often talk about her goodness.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Hu Shi went to the United States, and Jiang Dongxiu took refuge in Shanghai with his children. After learning about the revolutionary situation in the guerrilla areas, she sympathized with the revolutionary people.
In the spring of 1945, she returned to Jixi Shangzhuang. At that time in Shangzhuang, the Nationalist Army, the New Fourth Army, and the guerrillas all had garrisons; the Anhui Provincial Baosi Regiment was stationed in the town and often went to Shangzhuang to arrest people; Comrade Wang Muhai, a guerrilla, asked Jiang Dongxiu for help.
On another occasion, Comrade Wang Biying's family lived in Wangjiazhuang, an old revolutionary area, and the Nationalist army burned down his house and ordered his mother to be arrested.
The old man had no one to rely on and no place to live, and luckily fled to Jiang Dongxiu's home to avoid arrest, Jiang Dongxiu did not refuse, but enthusiastically settled in and took care of the old man and provided her with shelter.
Whether it is defending, building roads, or protecting revolutionaries and their families, Jiang Dongxiu has shown her insight and vision, and her wife is not enough to say, she is smart and brave but has the style of everyone's show, which is by no means comparable to ordinary women.
Understand the righteousness and win trust
Jiang Dongxiu only acts according to the feelings in her heart, and she does not care about fame and fortune.

Later, Hu Shi wrote to Dong Xiu again, saying: "Now that I come out to do things, I often feel ashamed in my heart, and I can't stand you." You always advise me not to go down the political road, and you are helping me. If you are a woman who does not know the general situation, she must expect a man to become a high official. You've been with me for twenty years and never think like that. ...... I feel ashamed of my old wife, this is the truth."
At this moment, Jiang Dongxiu already had considerable weight in Hu Shi's heart.
Perhaps, unsuspecting people think that the ambassador to the United States is a fat difference between fame and fortune, but in fact, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Hu Shi not only could not get a stable salary, but sometimes had to pay the salaries of embassy staff out of his own pocket.
Life was tight, and Jiang Dongxiu broke a penny into two halves.
Even if he is not generous, Jiang Dongxiu does not care too much about money, does not spend much money on himself, but mostly receives relatives and friends.
Hu Shi sent 1600 yuan to Jiang Dongxiu, and as soon as she received it, she distributed it to relatives and friends who had a bad life, sent Luo Ergang 150 yuan, Wu Han 100 yuan, lent Mao Zishui 100 yuan, and gave 140 yuan to servants, lent hundreds to fellow villagers, in addition to these, she saved money and donated 200 yuan to the school.
Husband and wife are in the same heart, and their profits are broken.
Knowing that his wife had scattered thousands of dollars, Hu Shi wrote a letter and said movingly: "I am very much in favor of you donating two hundred yuan to Mr. Zhou's school." When I got to Europe, I also managed to send him some money to donate. It is rare that you can remember the poor people in your family in the midst of your tribulations and send them money. I am very grateful. In a place like this, you are truly worthy of being your mother's daughter, worthy of being my mother's daughter-in-law. ”
Hu Shi and Jiang Dongxiu and his wife, sharing weal and woe, the two hearts are getting closer and closer.
With each other, happiness is whitehead
Mr. and Mrs. Hu Shi both love to be lively, and friends often come to the house as guests. Jiang Dongxiu will cook a delicious "Huizhou cuisine" to entertain guests, especially the "Huizhou Yipin Pot" that Hu Shi loves to eat.
According to Liang Shiqiu's recollection: "A large iron pot, with a caliber of almost a foot, was served hot, and it was still boiling, a layer of chicken, a layer of duck, a layer of meat, dotted with some egg skin dumplings, and underneath was radish cabbage." Whenever I saw the steaming heat of this table, the villagers gathered together, and Hu Shi's smile stretched freely.
In his later years, Hu Shi became closer to his wife. When he was lying in a hospital bed, he also joked with the people around him and talked about the problem of "fear of the inside".
He proposed that men should pursue the principles of "three subordinates" and "four virtues" to their wives. The so-called "three subordinates" mean that the wife must follow when she goes out, the wife must obey the order, and the wife who is wrong must blindly obey. The so-called "four virtues" are that the wife must wait for makeup, the wife's birthday should be remembered, the wife's scolding should be endured, and the wife should be willing to spend money.
