Wang Erzhuo, born in 1903 in Shimen County, Hunan Province, was admitted to the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy in 1924 and joined the Communist Party of China in the autumn of the same year. In August 1927, Wang Erzhu led his troops to participate in the Nanchang Uprising. At the end of October, the remnants of the rebel army were reorganized into a column, with Wang Erzhuo as chief of staff, and Zhu De, Chen Yi, and others led the troops to fight in Fujian, Guangdong, Gansu, and Xiangbian. In January 1928, he participated in leading the Shonan Uprising. In April 1928, after the Jinggangshan Division, Wang Erzhuo was appointed chief of staff of the 4th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Fourth Army and commander of the 28th Regiment.
