Emperor Ruizong of Tang (22 June 662 – 13 July 716), the fifth emperor of the Tang Dynasty, was known as Li Xulun (李旭轮) and Li Lun (李 Wheel), the eighth son of Emperor Gaozong of Tang, the younger son of Wu Zetian, and the younger brother of Emperor Zhongzong of Tang. He was initially enfeoffed as the King of YinXu and the governor of Ji Prefecture. He ascended the throne twice in his lifetime, three times to the world, reigned from the first year of civilization to the second year of the first year of the zaichu (684-690) and the first year of Jingyun to the first year of Yanhe (710-712), a total of 8 years of reign. In 690, he gave way to his mother Empress Wu Zetian and was made an imperial heir. In 710, Emperor Zhongzong was poisoned and Emperor Ruizong took the throne again. Together with his son Li Longji, he eliminated the forces that killed Emperor Zhongzong of Tang. In 712, giving way to Emperor Xuanzong of Tang and proclaiming himself Emperor Taishang, he died of illness in 716 at the age of 55. The temple name Tang Ruizong, the title of Xuanzhen Great Saint Daxing Xiao Emperor, was buried in qiaoling. Tang Ruizong had no special ability to govern the country, and in his later years he was also influenced by his son Li Longji. He composed only 2 poems.
