Since its inception, there has been a lot of controversy around ChatGPT, one of which is whether it will lead to the layoff of human workers. Now, that fear has really come true.

According to the Washington Post, Olivia Lipkin, who is in charge of copywriting at a tech startup, was officially fired by the company in April. The reason for the dismissal was that the company believed that ChatGPT was cheaper than hiring a full-time copywriter.

After OpenAI launched ChatGPT last November, Lipkin didn't have much exposure to it. But less than 5 months later, he was replaced by ChatGPT.

Perhaps this company is a little inhumane in doing so, but this is the truth, in order to reduce costs and increase efficiency to accurately control costs, human resources are often the easiest to replace and compress. Jobs that are simply repetitive and can be replaced by AI will naturally bear the brunt of being merged or banned.

In order not to be replaced by generative AI such as ChatGPT, everyone should understand and learn generative AI and strive to enhance themselves with AI, so as to maintain sufficient competitiveness in the future AI era.
